By accident, de Ment stumbled onto one of the hottest series in publishing and a rising genre – vampire fiction for young adults.  The popular Harry Potter series has come to an end, but the trio of books published so far in Meyer’s “Twilight” saga are showing some Harry Potter-like qualities. The three books in the series have sold 5.5 million copies worldwide, and other authors are jumping on the young-adult vampire fiction bandwagon.
