Status of our Forums

Update: this post was written last year in August 2008 and I wanted to inform you that the information here is old and relevant to events at that time. The comments here range from old to new; and since we love them, we want to keep them active and available. But because the status information is old, we want you to know that we maintain a forum (The Cullens Garage) of our server status and Q&A at the TwilightMomsForums.com site. You must be a registered member to leave forum comments; so join the members and let us know about any problems or concerns about the websites, or just enjoy the friendships and fun topics there … -SnapJag
Yesterday at least one of the Twilight communities mounted an attack on some of the Twilight fansites. They held a “contest” of sorts to see who could post as many of their banners on a site and take a screen shot of their banner before it got deleted. They posted a few posts on our site before we decided to disable the forum for the night. The TwilightMOMS forums were not hacked and are still in tact but due to lack of staffing available this weekend to deal with the issue we have decided to keep the forum disabled for the weekend.
Our heart goes out to the Lexicon and we are truly saddened that their site was hacked last night. The Lexicon held a wealth of information for the Twilight Fandom which is currently unavailable to all.
ETA: It appears it was one really upset person who hacked into the Lexicon. I’m truly sorry for the time and energy that it will take the Lex to restore the damage that was done. The Lexicon provided so much valuable information for the Twilight community. I personally agree that, no matter whether you loved or hated Breaking Dawn, or agreed or diagreed with the Lexicon stance on what is allowed on their personal site, hacking in and destroying someone’s website is unjustifiable and completely wrong.
ETA: My original post said it was a teenager who hacked into the Lex but in reality I don’t have a clue how old the person was. Stephenie Meyer has many loyal fans of all ages!!! Teenagers and adults alike adore her and the world she has created.

Thank you for your words of kindness and support. I am deeply sadden to see our playground destroyed, but comments like yours remind me why our work is not a wasted effort. Our love for the series is what brings us together and this unfortunate event will hopefully unite our fandom. Thank you Twilight Moms.

there are some people who really don’t have anything better to do. i just couldn’t fathom how they are so capable of doing such unproductive and malicious deeds. the lexicon is my second most favorite site, and i’m really disheartened by this event. i miss the lex already!
to the admins and moderators of TMs thank you so much for all the hard work you’ve been putting forth to continually ensure the smooth operation of our site. your dedication and vigilance are trully appreciated by us TMs.

I am just sick over what has happened to the Lex. They are great ladies over there who work tirelessly for the Twilight fans. And to have a “fan” hack into their system is devastating. I hope they are able to get things up and running soon and know that the TwilightMoms wish them well.

This is all just so sad! I mean – I thought I was way too obsessed with the Twilight books – but to be so obsessed that you could be that dissappointed in a BOOK that you would go so far as to express your displeasure by hacking into a webiste – that’s just sad on so many levels.

Twilight Fanfiction and Art was also hacked. Pel had to take it down, and it’s also affecting 3 charity sites that she hosts for free. I am so annoyed at the disrespect, plus I check for new stories every day. Thank you to all the site moderators for all your hard work. The majority of the Twilighters love and appreciate you. I agree with the poster that wants to send a message of love and support for Stephenie. I wasn’t sure about the ending, but I liked it more after reading her Q&A. This is her world, not ours. Personally, I’m glad Bella was a shield. I still haven’t recovered from all the loss in HP7. I was dreading the idea of Jacob or one of the Cullens dying (though I wouldn’t have missed Jane or Felix).

Along with everyone else, I was upset to hear about the Lexion and give my support to Pel and Alphie and everyone else who works so hard on that site. I am among the crowd who was not pleased with Breaking Dawn but I wouldn’t dream of taking that out on ANYONE, not the Lex or S.M. It’s lunacy. After reading BD, the Lexicon was the first place I went to post because I knew I’d be able to express my opinion there without being yelled at. I knew I’d find others who shared my thoughts and I could take comfort in the fact that I wasn’t alone in my opinions. I wish the Lexicon the best of luck as it gets back on its feet and I hope this silliness will stop.

I am going to try my best not to go off on a rant, I just don’t understand why people who do things like this. I heard it said once that TRUE FREEDOM, is when you are able to do what is right, NOT whatever you want. What these people did was the opposite of freedom. It was criminal. Anyways, I am not sure if anyone read some of the comments on the Times article (I think it was it) about Bella getting married out of high school and immediately pregnant. I love when people say thing like that, because then again there is hypocrisy…. Hello, we are women and what ever we do, we make are the strength that makes this world what it is. Stay at home mom, CEO, whatever! These people really need to get a life.
Okay, I am done now…. Thanks!

This is just horrible! How could someone be so immature and selfish?

The Lexicon is back up and it looks like, to the good fortune of the Twilight Universe, they have come out on the other side of their attack unscathed!!! I, for one, would like to say, “Congratulations, Pel and Alphie!” I’m so glad that The Lexicon survived!!

I too was glad to see them up and running this morning. Pel told me to let everyone know they may being going up and down for a day or so while they get things put back up. So if they do go down for a while it is just because they are working on it.

Congrats to Pel & Alphie!! I can’t imagine how relieved they must be if all of their data is relatively intact! If their rebuild is even half as easy as they anticipated, that’s wonderful news!
If anything, this reminds me that I need to make sure that I always have a current back up of my company website!
Though I would NEVER wish this on anyone!
I hope that soon all of our beloved Twilight sites will be up and running again. I never realized how much I miss the cameraderie on TM!!
I REALLY hope that by the time I am set up in my hotel room tonight (I have a work conference to attend) that TM will be back up and I’ll be able to catch up with all of my friends!
Hugs to you all after a long and emotionally tiring weekend!!

Thank you so much Pel & Alphie….your tremendous effort does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. What an absolute dreadful thing to happen…and to the person/persons that did this….no evil deed goes unpunished!! It comes back to haunt you!!

Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight book series is the first one EVER to inspire me to join an online group, just to talk about it and laugh about it. THis is the first on-line group I’ve joined period. I love you all. It really disturbs me how people can be so malicious. I mean, honestly, what’s the point? If you do not agree with something – go be creative and start your own group, stop trying to hurt others! Thank you so much to everyone who was and is vigilant at the LEX and here on TM’s. And other sights. I’ve noticed there seems to be a lot of people with a rather harsh point of view towards all things Twilight, maybe it has been like that for other books and authors too, but this one hits home. How sad. What a sad, little person to do something like this!
