New Moon: Twilight The Casting Scoop by Lana Veenker

Posted on 10. Dec, 2008 by in News

Would you believe the TwilightMOMS administrators and forums are already being flooded with requests to help get people in the New Moon movie?  Can we help them be an extra?  Can we help them find out where set locations are?  In all honestly these emails & pleas won’t get you anywhere and we can’t help.  We have no control over who gets cast in the movie and won’t be helping anyone find set locations.

If you would like to learn a little bit more about casting for the movie please check out this blog post by Lana Veenker.

Since we have been flooded with emails, here are a few words relating to any future casting of the Twilight series:
Auditions
Until production gets underway and filming locations are confirmed, no auditions will be taking place anywhere, as the casting and extras casting directors haven’t even been hired. Open casting calls, if there are any, will be announced in the cities where they are taking place. Be patient, grasshoppers!
By the way, there’s no need to send headshots and resumes to the production company; they’re not doing the casting and your materials will end up in the trash. Let the casting directors sort through the thousands of submissions; that’s not the production company’s job.

Also please make sure you have read over the TwilightMOMS policy on New Mooon set visits. Things will be a lot different than they were with the filming of Twilight so if you had plans to try to visit the set please make sure you know where we stand.

During the filming of Twilight, many TwilightMOMS visited the set and posted their pictures and experiences here on our forums. We even had our official TMInsiders and were very lucky to be invited on set and to locations several times. During and after the filming of Twilight, we learned a lot, and Summit learned a lot about the fans. Things will be quite a bit different during the shoot for New Moon.

Official TwilightMOMS set and location reporting will only be authorized by designated TwilightMOMS media representatives coordinating directly with Summit Entertainment. The TMIinsiders will not be reporting about the filming of New Moon like they did for Twilight. Our fabulous correspondents know the opportunities they had during the filming of Twilight were a once in a lifetime experience. As exciting and fun as those days were, it was a lot of work and the opportunities aren’t the same.

Summit is (finally!) aware of the Twilight Saga fan base and are prepared for people searching for filming locations. Security will be tight and we caution anyone attempting to visit any set locations of New Moon. It’s a whole new ball game, probably more like Vampire Baseball than the world series this time around, so be aware that security will enforce strict policies to protect the integrity of the filming and the safety of the cast and crew. TwilightMOMS fully supports Summit’s rights and plans to cooperate fully with their security requests so that New Moon can get in the can as quickly as possible for us to enjoy! We know many of you will be disappointed if you go looking for a set location and we don’t want anyone to interfere with the filming process.
