EW.com: Drew Barrymore to direct Eclipse?

Posted on 26. Feb, 2009 by in Movie Related, News

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Drew Barrymore is interested in directing Eclipse.  This is just in the rumor stage as neither Summit or Drew’s reps have confirmed it but Entertainment Weekly doesn’t usually report something unless there is some validity to it.

I’m sorry, but this upset me. I was really hoping, due to box office success of Twilight, that the next three movies would be produced and directed with a bit more care and attention. I think that the production of the movies is spiraling out of control. Common sense alone tells us that you can’t have three, four different directors directing a movie series and have quality rule. These films will be butchered. Twilight wasn’t that good. We all went to see it over and over b/c we love Meyer and her stories. But, most people will agree we are all hoping that with a bigger budget and new director, we’ll get to see better films. Meyers fans are in every crevice of the internet. The “powers that be” know what we want and it’s their resposibility to deliver. I have no words to explain how I feel about the decisions being made. If these were my books being put on the big screen, I’d be furious.

These movies need very experienced directors (why can’t they slow down the production so Chris can stay on?). Drew doesn’t have it yet! Hiring her would be some kind of sick joke. Meyer, her fans and the actors involved in the film deserve much more.

Someone at another Twilight community used the words, “Epic Fail” when discussing her concerns about all that is going on. I second her fear.

Please, who do we have to write to, call, or e-mail NOT to have Drew Barrymore direct! Chris Weitz seems ideal to do this. Barrymore would really ruin the movie! Anyone remember Charlie’s Angels? This is a Stephenie Meyer story not a Drew Barrymore story.
