ummm… wow. How in the name of all that is holy did that snippet get thrown to the cutting room floor?!
Does anyone else see that as a crime?

Wow, I’m really glad that got cut. Edward would never take biting Bella that lightly and he definitely wouldn’t fall down just because she lost her balance. He would have just caught her.

I agree with keeping it out. It is so not in the book, and do you wanna taste just doesn’t seem right. He seems so into it, and Edward would not want to do that. It would have eliminated the hard feelings he had about sucking the venom out. Just not in the style of Edward at all. It was almost disturbing to watch.

As sexy as the scene may be, I am glad it got cut. It’s not Bella and Edward talking, that’s for sure! Tasting her blood would have sent him into a frenzy. He was always so careful and protective of her. I just don’t see it happening, sorry. At least we got to see more of R-Pattz.
WOW! OMG!
Ok, now that I’m breathing again… I am actually glad they deleted that scene from the movie. It is so “not like” Edward. It’s true, he would never take biting Bella so lightly. That’s what makes the novel so good. =)

It was not in the book….and this do you want a taste is so not the Bella and Edward we love…I love seeing the joking side of him in which he told her that her number was up, more scenes of their characters together is always nice, but just not this…

Very awkward and very out of character. I am very glad they left this out of the movie. Now, if only they had deleted the blowing fan in the biology room scene………..

I am so glad they left that out. Even in the movie Edward tells her that once they taste blood it’s hard to stop….and in this scene he’s actually biting her?! she acts like it hurt. I would have loved that scene if when she put her finger in his mouth he playfully pretended to bite her. (as a replacement for the playful grown & pounce in the book) But as everyone has pointed out anything having to do with his teeth near Bella is out of character for Edward. Also, is Kristen asking “want to taste”, or “are you ok” or what? I can’t really make it out.

Hmm. I’ll never complain about rpattz screen time, but it’s a good think that was cut.
Too many flaws in such a short time. Like him biting her.. WTH was that?! Also, did he pull her down or did they fall? Falling would have been another big flaw.

I guess I was mislead. I thought he tripped her, then she asked him if he wanted a taste, but I thought she just meant her skin. I didn’t think he actually bit her. I thought she may have flinched from the pressure on her finger like she thought he was going to bite her. then she put her finger in her mouth to taste his venom? I know not from the book, but pretty hot.

That was weird, It looked like Rob had his mouth wide open just waiting for Kristen to stick her finger in his mouth. It didn’t look natural.
I’m glad it got cut. It was out of character. It would have been better if they were just playing around.
Daiseys
05. Mar, 2009
I think he tripped her. I like the scene in the beginning when they are joking around but I do agree that it doesn’t fit the rest of the movie. I would have enjoyed dialog scenes like that in the movie. Don’t worry Lisa, I really liked the scene just didn’t think it fit the movie or the characters, cause we all agree that Edward wouldn’t do that. I could see him tripping her and maybe them either kissing or something, but not the finger bitting thing. I think I will watch it again

ugh!! This was nothing but pandering to another book series!!! this is completely NOT Bella and Edward- there have been questions about this for years and it’s completely out of character thank Edward this didn’t make the final cut!!!
Heather
05. Mar, 2009
True – this was not true to their relationship at the time. Edward would never be so cavalier about biting her at this point! The first part of their dialogue is actually in the book, so that, in another context, may have been okay to leave in, but after they fall is all wrong. It’s good they cut it for the movie, but I hope it is on the DVD extras! It’s HOT for what it was!

First off, it looks like she’s about to choke him and then it totally sounds like he’s biting her finger off. UGH! I can’t even believe they shot that scene. I liked the line about her number being up, but NO NO NO Edward would never risk even smelling her blood let alone tasting it. He would have gone bizerk. They would have been better off to shoot the blood typing scene!

I’m deaf- is there anyone who can type what was being said? Im completely lost. From just watching, no sound, it looks kind of playful at first but the finger in his mouth thing, totally out of character. I mean such a huge deal is made in every book about how danger his teeth are.

Yeah that was a little weird. I liked it until they fell, and then umm yeah, that is so not in character. At least not at this point in the Saga. I’m glad it was cut.
I’m thinking the falling and the “you want a taste?” parts were adlibbed. I vaguely remember them talking about it in some early interviews last year.
Sarah
05. Mar, 2009
ok so here’s the deal, the first part about her saying they were tempting fate because her time was up with the van that’s in the book and his comment about her time being up the first time they met, that was in the book…. but COME ON!!!! Wanna Taste???? Now it was a very sexy scene, VERY SEXY and TOO SEXY for the movie…. Edward (at least the Edward that millions of women fell in love with) would NEVER ‘wanna taste’. After I saw this on TV tonight I couldn’t form a sentence for a good 5 minutes…… so glad this was cut

ummm… ooookay. that was WEIRD! So happy it didn’t make it. I wonder what other nonsense they took out. I did see a part of the deleted meadow scene on youtube that will be on the DVD. I don’t know why they cut that scene. It was the WHOLE reason for the book in the first place and it didn’t make it. I’ll never understand.

05. Mar, 2009
I think this was Catherine’s way of just trying something new. Obviously, she realized it was out of character/didn’t fit in the movie so that is why it’s a deleted scene. This may have been one of those scenes that the fans who got to see prescreenings totally didn’t go for or maybe it was Stephenie herself that wanted it cut. All in all, they made a good decision. =)
Heck! I think I would have tried it just to see it played out between them cuz it WAS HOT, it just WAS NOT Edward. ^_^

06. Mar, 2009
This scene made me very happy that Catherine is NO LONGER the director…I’m wondering if they should get rid of the screenwriter as well. Number 1, Edward would never fall backwards like that. Number 2, the scene totally undermines his struggle and anguish of not wanting to kill her when he tells her that her time was up the first time they met. Ugh, such a freakin’ great story and they’re getting it ALL WRONG!!! Stephanie, do something!!!!!

I am glad they cut this out. I think Stephenie Meyer addressed the issue of Edward having a small taste of Bella’s blood on the frequently asked questions on her website. Anyway the scene is really out of character for Edward and Bella.
Eleni
06. Mar, 2009
Here’s my one quick observation. Tell me if you think I’m completely off the mark.
She cringes and kind of says “ow” when she pulls her finger away. So I don’t think that she is sensually licking her finger after he bit her but you know when you’ve cut your finger you immediately put it in your mouth (whatever that does) as a reflex? I think that’s what she was doing and then he mocks her for doing it with the line/joke, “You fragile little human.” What do you think?
Eleni
06. Mar, 2009
Oh, and one more thing. I think she’s saying “Do you really want to taste/want a taste?” I’m not sure which. But she could have been referring to something they talked about in an earlier scene that we didn’t get to see either.
See, I don’t think this was meant to be a sexy scene. I see Kristen playing Bella as kind of shy about it and unsure but willing to do anything for Edward.
I don’t know. That’s just me. Gut reaction though definitely is wow, this really does come off as too sexy and totally out of character for Edward anyway.
OK…that left me speechless…I had to watch it a couple of times…I agree with most of the other comments…very HOT, but so not Bella and Edward. Glad they left it out of the movie, but looking forward to the other deleted scenes!

As usually is the case, the books we love are usually better than the movies they’re adapted to. I just don’t understand why they couldn’t stay true to the scenes we’ve all come to love…and even memorize. I really hope they do a better job with New Moon. God forbid they take Jacob and Bella’s relationship further than it actually went. I really hope they are faithful to Edward and Bella’s return to each other, especially Bella’s epiphany when she finally sees how much Edward has always truly loved her.

I might be wrong, but I vaguely remember that at ComiCon, KS and RP talked about a scene they improvised where Edward bit Bella. If I am not making that up (and I could be hallucinating, I teach HS all day and then come home to 2 kids under 8), perhaps this is it, and that would explain why the scene does not flow at all.
