That is retarded! Jane needs to be played by someone who is unknown and not ugly! Idiots!

I can definitely see Dakota as Jane. She will do a great job.

o.k.! Sounds great, but now enough with big name stars. Hope they find some yet undiscovered talent.

Love her! Great choice, provided they have not dipped into the already-too-low FX budget to pay her salary! LOL

I think she is an excellent choice- and I agree, enough big name talent. :0) As far as her salary… Jane is a pivotal role but she doesn’t get much “screen time” in the books really. So I think the budget is safe.

Brit, your opinion could have been expressed without using the word “retarded” which is a hurtful slur when used in that way for those of us who have children we love with special needs.

We appreciate diverse opinions on TwilightMOMS, but please express them respectfully.

    Thank You.

sigggh- oh well I hope she will do a good job. I pictured Jane as slightly older more like 16 We knew this was coming- she just did Push with Summit so I assume they got her into a several movie contract….

I’m thrilled Dakota will be playing Jane! She’s exactly how I pictured her when I read the books.

I hope that this will be the only well known star.
I want it to go back to the unknowns, it makes it more of an illusion

wow I can believe!!! I think this will finaly be a good movie.

I think it is a wonderful choice. Dakota is young, but she has a personality that seems wise beyond her years. I wonder is is playing Aro?

I thought that Jane would be younger. I guess I pictured her being around 10 or so according to my reading of the book. She’s not in it much. As you well know, when it comes to the movie they can change whatever they want

I think Dakota is an excellent choice to play Jane. Dakota is young but she has a powerful presence and exactly the right attitude to play this role. I agree with one of the other comments….she is the way I pictured Jane when I was reading the books. Can’t wait to see the movie!

Omg! I’m sorry but she is a horrible choice for the part one of the many reasons I loved the twilight movie(one of which being Robert pattinson as Edward!! <3) was that all the actors were people I’ve never heard of so it gave the audience the feeling it was real and the actors were actually their characters because we had nothing to compare them to ( like other parts) and now whenever she’s on the screen I’ll think a pigs gonna run in or something!

    Being Britt’s mom,
Yes she could have used a different word
but being a young teenager with strong opinions she acted on emotions. Now as for the movie I’m sure Dakota will do a great job. I just wish they had chosen an unknow.

I think its Great, b/c for me – it just means the movie is actually happening.

This is totally off the subject but… I thought TwilightMoms was for… moms. Isnt there other groups that Britt would feel more comfortable expressing herself the way others her age do?

I think Dakota will do a great job at it. I just hope that the 4th/maybe 5th movies are done fast since Dakota is still growing and changing so much, something a vampire isn’t supposed to do.
This site isn’t just for moms is it? I know the name, but I thought just adults were allowed. I don’t have kids, but am way too old to be on the teeny bopper sites. I just love Twilightmoms and would be so sad if I had to give it up.

TwilightMOMS is not just for moms. If it were I couldn’t be here. To be a member of our forums you have to be over 25, married or a mom. Anyone is welcome to comment on our blog even if they are not forum members, but we do ask that their comments be respectful.

    Rawwwrrrrrr…. ^

I am not completely sold on Dakota and i guess i never had a say, but I agree on preferring the “less known actors.” It did make it more… magical? Magical may not be the word… lol. Anyway, the books have become more mainsteam, so I suppose it makes sense to have bigger “stars” in the up and coming films. *shrugs*

The movie-suits should invest in FX, not stars! Dakota is great for the role, but it’s a small part and not worth overspending.

I’m on the fence…i guess now it’s really up to who they pick to play alec…i do agree an unknown would be best but robert pattinson and kristen stewart are no unkowns!

  27. Becky

    09. Mar, 2009

Definitely NOT who i pictured for Jane…Isn’t Jane supposed to be child-like, and smaller…Dakota seems to old for the role and she’s only going to get old as the movies go on…by the time Breaking Dawn comes she’s no longer going to fit the part. Dakota is a great actress, but I was upset by this choce

I think Dakota will be great !!! Although I do agree, that using unknowns has worked well for our movie !!!! She is a very talented actress !!! And her age shouldn’t be a big factor !!! I believe she will pull this off for us. But I do hope she has read the books, so she will really get a sense for the part !!!

I liked that they did not have big huge stars playing in the films…..It lets you really picture them as who they are playing and not just who they are in real life. ……but she will do the part well……. and she isn’t like Julia Roberts or Jennifer Hudson or anything…….and don’t forget how many really thought Rob would butch the part of Edward……..don’t judge Dakota too quickly.

Unfortunately, although the blog is associated with TwilightMOMs, you don’t have to be a registered TwilightMOM to post here. If y’all want the TwilightMOMs unspoken rules of kindness first and think before you post to apply, there needs to be some way to restrict who can post to the blog. I agree with the MOMs that everyone is entitled to their opinion and there are nice ways to disagree with something, without resorting to name calling.

Regarding Dakota Fanning, since I was seeing her as Jane in my mind anyway, I can’t say I am disappointed in the least. I think she can do that kind of “Children of the Corn” charming ruthlessness that would be required of the role.

Hey i just stumbled upon this site but i am not a mom or over 25 and am definately not married. But, i just thought that this was an amazing site,…. plus i am not really in to all that teen drama that is why i switched schools!!!

Now for the case of Jane…For some reason in my head i imagined Jane as someone as beautiful as Nicole Kidman… but as i have been thinking about it Dakota Fanning should be a good choice for that role. As for the age thing i figure they should film faster or they could always use her little sister if it takes too long!!!

I wish they had cast an “unknown” for the very same reason mentioned in other posts. I think they should have cast someone a bit older, smaller and “dark & twisty”….Dakota is an actress, not a vampire.

Well, the movie is being rushed anyway. Let’s hope it’s not a disaster.

oh i kinda dont like that i kinda pictured her with black hair and a little goth i guess looking in the book not blonde but i guess she is okay.

I don’t like Dakota Fanning for this part. I prefer a relative newcomer like Jodelle Ferland. Google her to see if you agree. xo
