Nikki Reed chats with Larry Carroll about the look of the Cullen’s in New Moon.

Later this year, the stars of “Twilight” will return in the highly anticipated sequel “New Moon.” But first, they’ll be undergoing an extreme makeover.

“I think we are just perfecting it,” Nikki Reed explained when she stopped by the MTV studio recently, revealing the conversations she’s had with new franchise director Chris Weitz. “I think it will be a little bit different, and we’ll perfect it for the best.”

I know some fans may be upset at the thought of a wig but I’m not. The look of the vampires in the first movie was terrible. I am glad to hear they want to improve it. In fact, the more I hear about the changes Chris Weitz is planning the more I think he’s the perfect director. He can see everything that was wrong with Twilight and make it better. I think his vision will make more sense, from what I’ve seen anyway.

Did she seem really offended at the end there to anyone else?? I didn’t think the unnatural comment was too far off! I’m grateful for the work she put into the role, but it did look fake and probably could have been done better. I’m excited to see how they change her look and to see if Carlisle will look more natural as well.

All I can say is: BRAVO

This was a great interview. She cleared up one of my big concerns – the make-up. I’m so happy that this concern of fans and the actors is being taken seriously by the director! While she gave legitimate reasons as to why they had make-up issues on the set, not fixing the mess and letting the movie go to the big screen with the make-up so messy was unjustifiable. You’re making a MOVIE. You cannot just give up and continue to shoot scenes when the make-up looks as bad as it did. You bring in someone else or work at it until it’s right. Don’t wait until the next movie and the new director to fix it.

When she mentioned Weitz, bringing a “progression” , I felt as if she was, tactfully and subliminally saying that he is making the movie better all-around. She didn’t slam Hardwick, which was nice. But, I think I speak for many fans that Hardwick just didn’t “bring it.” Meyer’s wonderful stories deserved much more on the big screen and I am, for one, am hoping Weitz and the next director (Eclipse, etc) move in a positive direction step these movies up a notch (or two or three!) and this interview has given me hope that all the powers that be are invested in doing that.

Now, let’s hope the director helps Pattinson get custom-made contacts that don’t irritate him so that he can better perfect his facial expressions (this is in response to him stating that the contacts irritated his eyes so much that he had a very hard time w/his facial expressions – Yeah. We noticed).

Nikki appeared to get a little upset when Larry said her hair looked unnatural in theTwilight. Why get upset if it’s a true statement? I was not a fan of the vast majority of the Twilight movie, but I thought she did a great job with Rosalie’s character.

I don’t think she was offended at all. Just stating the fact: They all looked unnatural (as in, more unnatural than they should have been) Their look in Twilight just wasn’t right. She wasn’t sugar-coating it. I think we shouldn’t read into what she said and we should, instead, be grateful that, so far, Weitz seems to be concerned about making a better film, is listening to his cast and the fans (and, possibly, many a film critics harsh reviews of Twilight).

Improvement is necessary if this film is to mature and reach its potential. I loved Nikki Reed as Rosalie. It’s too bad she can’t just keep her brown locks. They’re gorgeous.

Sorry to hear Carlisle has to go blonde. I hope it’s a better blonde this time. And the makeup? Whatever happens, it will be exciting to see the changes.
