I love Rob, but I don’t think I can watch him make out with another guy.

I don’t think I could watch that either, I might ruin “Edward” for me!

i’m eager to see rob stretch his wings at playing dali, will be seeing this one, and wish him the best of luck :)

I hope he can really “act” and it not just “Edward.” This I found strange to watch, for sure, but I definitely did NOT see Edward in it. It would be cool if he could be like Johnny Depp and play quirky roles but still be impossibly HOT.

I can’t wait to see this movie.

Is that homophobia rearing its head, first three commenters? Especially that “Amen” comment. Why is that what you comment about? Did you even watch the clip? If it shows anything, it shows that love has no boundaries. Some men love men. Some women love women. And, some men love men and women, etc.. Love comes in many flavors, and it’s time we accept that.

Thanks to Rob for taking on such a challenging role and not boxing himself in as an actor. I’m curious to learn more about Salvador Dali, Garcia Lorca, and that period of Spanish history through the film’s interpretations of a violently stifled era that bore amazing creativity.

I disagree with you RebeccaK, just b/c we don’t want to see R.P. with another man does not make us homophobic. For many of us, it is now hard to separate R.P. from Edward Cullen. So when watching him in any role we will tlhink of our Edward and we don’t want him to be doing things that don’t fit with that idea. For example I caught the replay of the H.P. movie in which Cederic D. is killed, I actually had tears in my eyes when I looked at him lying on the ground.

My biggest problem is that moustache!! I didn’t know you could ruin a perfect face, He does appear to be a very good actor and this is a good thing for him to show the doubters out there who think he is a vampire joke. He is not and we all know that already :)

Its good to see him in another movie, I dont care what movie it is, if he do this part Ok that only will prove he is a good actor, he plays Salvador Dali perfectly dont you read? thats the way he was a great artist but crazy and with lots of twisted ideas in his head thats why he is sitll famous so many years after his dead, Robert its beautiful playing anything, dont fight, this movie will be interesting for his carrer, Bye..

Rob is an amazing actor. I understand how people will have trouble seeing him any way besides the perfect Edward. But I’m not only a fan of Edward. I am a fan of Rob. I will go see anything he does. :)

Kudos to Rob for taking on such a different role. I’m sure he doesn’t want to be typecast as Edward for the rest of his career. People should be able to separate Rob from Edward and deal with him doing other creative projects. He is a real person, not just Edward. Deal with it!

I loved this! Rob was funny and quirky. “I grew a moustache”- that was very funny considering the crazy moustache! This role will totally show he is a great actor. I won’t be watching the movie though. Homosexual theme aside, it’s not something I would watch.

Well, I am an artist, and a huge fan of both Dali and Robert. So I’m anxious to see what he does with the character, and although I have no issue with homosexuality in any way shape or form, I will still find it difficult to see him in the awkward sex scenes, especially after reading the GQ article in which he explains how uncomfortable it was for him to film things he says he never thought he would ever do anywhere, especially on camera. I think I will feel so sorry for him when I am watching it! He had an open set, and no one spoke english, and he was very self conscious and embarassed, and couldn’t wait to get it all over with. He doesn’t seem to be a real fan of the film himself, but I think that may be his own self consciousness talking. I don’t think he feels he can ever be good enough. But I’m sure he will be fabulous, and I too hope that he continues to take on unique and colorful roles that push boundaries, don’t necessarily fit inside the so-called-box, and make people think a little bit more about the world outside of their own comfort zone. Bravo Rob, can’t wait to see it!

Can’t wait to see this movie : I’m a big fan of Rob Pattinson as an actor and a singer, and I’m 100% sure he will play an excellent Dali. I’m happy that this is a very different role than playing Edward, it will show us how much of talented person he his.

And beleive it or not, seeing those homosexual scenes will be, I’m sure, as hot as seeing ‘straight’ scenes, because Rob Pattinson is just so sensual…

Andrea I’m with you on watching this movie after reading his GQ interview and knowing how he felt when creating those scenes it might be difficult to watch without feeling his anxiety. Although if his embarrasment and self consciencesness does not come accross on film then I think it will just show how he really is a good actor…and will only get better as he adds more movies to his resume. I am looking forward to seeing this movie and seeing Rob in something other than twilight.

I’m actually really excited about seeing this film. I’ve been looking forward to it since I first heard about it. Yes I am a big Edward fan but I’m an even bigger ROBERT PATTINSON fan. This movie will be great for his career. And for people like those above who don’t want their “image” of Edward ruined. Get over it. It’s nice to see that after just one movie you’ve all typecast him already. It’s so sad. He’s only 22 and yet you’ll always think of him as “Precious Edward”. And yet strangely enough, he had done this role BEFORE Twilight. Now what if Little Ashes had been released before hand. Would you have not gone to see Twilight because he played this role?

Rob reminds me of Johnny Depp in so many ways. And even Heath Ledger. He is one of the few actors who seems to truly appreciate his work and is passionate about doing so.

I’d like to see him in a Tim Burton film. I’d like to see him in a drama. I’d like to see him play a cop or a bad guy. Either way, I’m happy with what he does because he does it great.

At least he can act. Be thankful he’s not just a pretty face.

@ Mary : I’m right with you on that : I’m so thankful he’s not just a pretty face ! He’s so much more than that.

It definitely looks artsy! I’m not familiar with Dali at all. I am sure Rob is doing a wonderful job:)

Oh, and nothing is homophobic about not wanting to see your *crush* kiss another man! It just ruins the fantasy:)

    27. Mar, 2009

    well said andrea :)
he is very self concious.. i wish he knew just how great he is…. and that the majority of people don’t just love him because of who he played in 1 movie. If you havn’t seen him in the Haunted airman, you should really try and watch it. its kinda creepy and dark, but he’s great in it.

The mustache reminds me of the bad wigs in Twilight. I love Dali and watching the clips just shows how talented an actor Rob is. With that said, reading the GQ article and now knowing how awkward felt makes me wonder was it that important for him to take such a role. I tell my children that if something is making them that uncomfortable to speak up, use their voice. If it’s that uncomfortable that is your inner voice telling you it’s not ok to continue. By the way “boxing” people in and taking their right to say their not feeling right about with watching something does not make them homophobic in any way. Saying that only causes problems that that may have not been the cause of someone’s awkward feelings.

@Rebecca K.-do not even go there. I am a huge Robert fan, but this is not the kind of movie I am interested in seeing. Just because I don’t want to see two guys making out doesn’t mean I’m homophobic.

Agreed! That pretty much is what i was trying to say, but I am such a talker. Thanks for wrapping that up for me!

So just because there’s one make out scene you’re not going to see the movie?

What about the artistic value of the film? What about the intense amount of hard work he put into this role?

But I guess you’re right, one little scene with Edward “making out” with some guy isn’t worth watching the entire film for.

It’s much easier to watch him as a vampire in a an unrealistic world than a film based on true events.

    *sigh*

All the same things were said about “Brokeback Mountain” yet it was an Oscar nominated picture. I suppose no one would like to see Rob win one of those things huh.

Playing in teen dramas won’t give him the recognition he deserves. Roles like THIS one will!!

As I said before, this isn’t the kind of movie that interests me. I know that Rob worked hard in this role. I’m not doubting that, but I would feel the same regardless of who played Dali.

I can watch him do anything, just watching him breathe …
Its called acting, and what a daring role for him to take.
I am sure that once the film airs there will be all kinds of speculation on his sexual preference and I DON”T CARE
he is sexy, talented and a good guy. I adore him xxoo

I’m looking forward to this movie as well. There’s a neat little out of the way theatre in my town that plays all the arty films that aren’t shown elsewhere and I’m looking forward to watching Little Ashes there. I loved Robert as Edward but I’m glad that he’s going to be seen in this very different role before New Moon comes out. He’s a talented guy who’s just getting started and I would hate for him to be typecast. As for speculation regarding his sexual orientation, I agree with Mrs Robinson that everyone will be asking the question. I actually thought he might be gay before I heard of Little Ashes. Who knows?
