EW.com: Breaking Dawn- Not So Fast

Posted on 21. Apr, 2009 by in News

Yesterday we posted an article from TheWrap stated that Breaking Dawn Movie had been given the green light.  We also stated that there was no official confirmation yet.  Entertainment Weekly has gotten us the confirmation that we were looking for, confirmation that it’s not true-

But not so fast, says Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who is still working on her script for Eclipse, the third in the teen vamp franchise (the second, New Moon, is currently shooting in Vancouver). “The most I’ve heard from Summit is ‘re-read it and start thinking about it,’” says Rosenberg

I think Breaking Dawn should absolutely be made into a movie (or two)! It was my favorite book in the series and I have read it three times now.

I was surprised by the comments I read when I followed this link–how many people didn’t like the 4th book, especially Nessie. My feelings, as a parent, were completely opposite. If Bella had not been able to have the human experience of having a baby that was an expression of the love between her and her soul mate (Edward), that would have diminished their capacity for full eternal love (in my opinion). In fact, I would love to see more of Bella and Edward interacting as parents (maybe in book 5?).

There also seemed to be a lot of comments about the “final” battle not being physical…I think the mental progression was much more interesting. I love Garrett’s passionate account of the the Cullen family finding that the denial of their lust actually increased their capacity for loving bonds and peace. Also, it is perfect that Bella, who struggled through her human life takes to this life so perfectly and is even able to save everyone in the end!

Anyway, this is supposed to be about whether or not to make a movie from the 4th book. I will be very sad if they do not. I understand the rating concerns, but think that the “love scenes” can be done tastefully, the birth from Bella’s perspective was a good idea (in and out of consciousness), and even if CGI can’t capture Nessie perfectly–I will settle for what they can do…

Thank you for the clarifications on the rumor! I saw that article on “the wrap” and wondered why it wasn’t reported by a larger source first. Now we know … :)

Fans will be hugely disappointed if Breaking Dawn is not made into a movie and could jepordize any New books to the series that might be written.

I know that there are scenes to this book that are graphic however I have seen plenty of PG13 movies that have been bad. I am sure they will be able to put scenes from the book into the movie with taste but leaving it out completely will not satisfy the wave of fans that have been so faithful.
