Michael Sheen is Aro
According to mailonline this big hitter among the cast will be our Aro in New Moon.
He has immortalised Tony Blair, David Frost and, most recently, legendary football manager Brian Clough on the big screen.
Now actor Michael Sheen is set to return to the realm of the firmly fictional after agreeing to play a vampire in the sequel to the blockbuster film Twilight.
Sheen, 40, who made his name with uncannily realistic portrayals of well-known figures in Oscar-winning films The Queen, Frost/Nixon and The Damned United, will get his biggest pay cheque yet, a reported £5million, to star in New Moon.

I think he’ll be absolutely fantastic! He’s so great as Lucian in Underworld. I can’t wait to see what he brings to the character of Aro.

I am glad that he is older than the actor playing Caius. He looks young enough to be a vampire, but old enough to satisfy my imagination. He looks perfect.

to me, it is a great casting choice. This guy was in talks to be up for an oscar instead of his costar Langella. loved him in underworld also.

I am SOOO excited to hear this! I LOVE Michael Sheen in the Underworld movies. He was so good in the most recent one (which takes place before the first two) He is an amazing actor. I cant believe they got him for this role!!! YES!

This is absolutely the best news. The character needs to have a very definite *presence* that should be felt that is both attractive and repelling at the same time. Sheen has the range to do this.
Brings up the level of game for all the actors. I’m sure the scenes with all of them will be excellent. Good work, Chris Weitz!

Excellent choice! Loved him as Lucian in Underworld. The Cullens need to place formidable Volturi, and Michael is sure to deliver!

I remember him as Tony Blair and I remember really liking him in that role. It’s fantastic he’s agreed to lend his talent to Twilight. Great addition to the cast!

Yeah i agree with most here. I thought he was great in underworld, and like sawsan said he’s old enough to play Aro yet young enough to be a vampire. Great choice – the casting just seems to get better and better – so excited. Bring on Marcus now

Okay, I think he will be a great part of the movie…what I don’t get is why he is getting 5 million pounds for his role. He is in a very small portion of the New moon book. I know it is a pivotal part, but 7.3 million dollars…seriously..It seems a bit much to me…but I don’t know much about the film world…
But I do think he will be perfect for the role. He looks very good for the part!

OMG! I cannot WAIT for this movie. Awesome choice for Aro, Caius, and Jane. Chris Weitz really has my vote now. The direction of this movie has really been taken up a notch .

I’m not familiar with his work but from the picture of him, I think it’s a really good choice. He’s handsome, and I’m sure with the contact lenses, hair/makeup, he will bring Aro to life.

This ROCKS! Michael Sheen is such a great actor and so versatile. I cannot wait to see him and Rob on screen together. Great that for once 99% of Twi Fans seem to be getting behind an actor from the start!

I am thrilled with this choice. He is a wonderful actor who becomes his characters – scary (in a good way) to think about what he’ll do with Aro. It also lends the film series more credibility to have casted someone of his calibur, as opposed to a relatively unknown 20 something….

This IS great!! I (like many others) love the Underworld Series and even once or twice, I thought of him as Aro (strange). Great choice!! Still not quite sure of Jamie as Caius : / But this choice was FANTASTIC! I can’t stand to read any more news-I’m so ANXIOUS for New Moon!!

Great! The second I saw that he was cast, I thought that he was perfect. I am still unsure about Caius, but Aro is a great casting. I loved him in Underworld

Michael will be BRILLIANT as Aro. I was so excited to see him cast. He was amazing in Underworld and hilarious in “Laws of attraction’. He’s a perfect addition to the case.

I totally agree with everyone here…What a great choice, Way to go Chris!!!! He was amazing in all the underworld movies and I think he will bring Aro to life in the mysterious and scary way he comes across in the books.

Fantastic! Yep, that just upped this film. I am very pleased and very much looking forward to the film. Aro’s power and
beauty and age, needed to be portrayed by the “just right person”, and whomever cast him, made an excellent choice. I didn’t picture him as Aro, but when this was annouced, I immediately got it. Bring on Demitri and Felix!

I watched Underworld, too many times.So when i reading new moon, i imagine him as Aro . I almost didn’t believe when i saw the he is gonna play Aro in the movie…

I think it is a good choice, at first i was leaning more to the guy who plays Viktor in Underworld, b/c he just has the look for a vampire but i can see where Michael Sheen can be Aro… I am just really excited to see the end product! Twilight Fans I believe we have the best looking cast i have ever seen in my life..
