FearNet interviews David Slade

FearNet had a chance to talk to David Slade about directing Eclipse-
“What will differ about Slade’s Twilight? “I don’t really know. We haven’t even started shooting yet.” While the director says he has a basic idea of what he wants to do with it, he is more concerned with telling a good story than being “different.” “It is darker, and there is a lot more action than the previous two,” he admits. “The third book is from Bella’s point of view, but the film will be more objective.” And just how will he do that? “We are going to focus on the origin stories of several characters, like Jacob, and show how Bella will decide between Edward and Jacob.”

I think he probably means the history of the werewolves, which we do get in Eclipse.

Still not feelin’ the love from this guy. AND, Stephenie didn’t write the books for teenagers. I believe her editor or publisher decided that they would be sold as young adult lit. So, get over yourself, Mr. Slade, and fall in love or get out. This series and its fans deserve nothing less.
I’m also a little caught off guard at the Jacob backstory comment. Why would that be a focal point of Eclipse?

ok, i sorry but i’m still not sure about this guy. He just doesn’t seem to be that into it the way CH or CW were. I just really hope he doesn’t muck it up, i want EC to be great the way it can be but also if it bombs then what are the chances of BD getting made and that is the one i’m really waiting for. So please DS get it sorted – i think maybe u need to do a re-vamp of the saga.

I do not feel good about him possibly directing Eclipse. He wants to lose Bellas POV, and that is just silly. He doesnt even really love the books and its just another thing to him. He hasnt done his research either, the book wasnt written for 15 year old girls, SM had a dream and went from there, writing it for herslef bc the characters were in her head. It was marketed to YA bc its from a teens POV, and we all know Bella isnt your typical vapid teenage girl…im fine with some back story cuz its in the book, but i hope they dont really hire this joker.

I agree with you all…not happy about this guy. The bottom line most important part of the Twi series is the LOVE STORY! This guy’s background is in horror and music videos. This is a huge opportunity for him so we’ll see if he pulls it off, but yes I’m nervous.
