Vampires Invade the CW

It seems after the success of Twilight and True Blood vampire franchises are springing up everywhere. I know some of our readers are also fans of The Vampire Diaries series by L.J. Smith. I found an extended clip for the upcoming tv show and thought I would share it for those reader who might be interested. What do you think of the casting? Is it how you saw the characters?

Elena is blonde and the most popular girl in school – not not brunette and demure.

I haven’t actually read TVD but this series looks good! True Blood is a bit too much for me to stomach and I’ve been missing Moonlight ever since that was cancelled so this should keep me entertained. =)

The characters of Elena and Stefan are not at all how I pictured. It seems they got them switched around. I like the actor that is playing Stefan but he isn’t the right look. Stefan is dark and has bright green eyes. This actor seems a bit too light. Elena is blond with blue eyes that match Stefan’s ring (they showed it in the clip). This actress is none of that. However, Damon is PERFECT. Exactly this right look, I think (other than he doesn’t have black eyes). And Bonnie is supposed to be a redhead. Regardless, I am excited to watch it, it looks good!

Its like a “twilight” spinoff. So much like S. Meyers
series, except its on every week, with a tweak of difference.

I have read both the TVD and The “true blood” SVS and have learned to take what I can get. There will always be changes, so I sort of think of it as I read a good book and now I get to watch a similar but different show. As for the true blood show if you find it tooo much you could try the books. They are adult and have a few parts that should stay in adult hands but not nearly as erotic as HBO has made it.

I have read the first TVD liked it but it just ok jmo and they are right elena is supposed to be blonde and the popular girl in school. I really don’t think I will watch it but i wish them much success. And I totally agree even though I love TruBlood it really pushes the boundaries sometimes, but I am 40 so I think I can handle it. And I too so very much miss Moonlight I think it was one of the best new shows to come out and was totally shocked when it was canceled, but I did hear that Alex (Mick) is coming out with a new series for I think CBS.
