Peter Facinelli encourages reading

Posted on 16. Jul, 2009 by in News

Last weekend Peter Facinelli was in Charleston, West Virginia for an event to encourage reading and to raise money for City of Joy.  EnterTeenmentNews was there and has a fantastic write-up and pictures from the event.  Check it out here.

The mall has dedicated the month of July to encouraging teenagers to read and has adopted the slogan “Read! It Changes Everything.” Because the hottest book series of the moment is the “Twilight” series by Stephenie Meyer, the Town Center decided to dedicate a few weekends to bringing the book more to life for mall visitors. First up was a visit from Peter Facinelli, the actor who plays “Dr. Cullen” in the movie version of the first “Twilight” book.

Fans were so excited about Peter’s visit that they began lining up at 4:00AM for his 12:00PM appearance. They drove in from as far away as Cleveland, Ohio, and some cars sported bumper stickers that read “Warning… I drive like a Cullen.” One die-hard fan from Texas had planned her vacation to visit family in the area to coincide with Peter’s meet and greet. Mothers lined up with their teenaged daughters and it was clear that they were equally excited.

It was an awesome experience. My 3 girls where captivated meeting Peter Facinelli. My 6 year old and 7 year old at the end of the signing was yelling for Peter to get his attention. He turned and then told his bodyguard to bring them over the rail to him. It was great. He signed an autograph picture he had someone pull of the Twilight backdrop and gave it the the girls. The were thrilled. I mouthed thank you to him. I hope he saw me and I hoped they did thank him. The were just so excited. My youngest daughtered said mommy, we need to put my poster up in my room. She is team Carlisle for sure.

What an amazing man he is! How wonderful for you and your girls! Reading all of this (the article and your post) has left me with the biggest smile – it’s great to know that someone in his position is so down-to-Earth and friendly, and loves meeting everyone so much. I’m very thankful for this every member of this cast – they’re the very best!
