Rachelle Speaks on Eclipse Casting Choice

Rachelle is apparently as shocked and upset by the news that she will not be appearing in the third installment in the Twilight series as the rest of us. Access Hollywood recently spoke to the actress about this development. Here’s what Rachelle had to say:
“I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”

Me too. SOOOOOOO sad! This is awful! Isn’t there something that the fans can do? I mean, there are so many of us that don’t want this to happen-knowing that it has already happened. But nothing-almost nothing-is written in stone.

Over at the Twilight Lexicon they have the address for Summit. I think if they got swamped with letters they might take notice.

Wow! I never realized I would have such a reaction to this news. Although she was not the most specific reason I watched the movies, I almost feel that I don’t want to see the movie unless she is in it. How can Victoria be anyone else at this point? This was her pivotal movie, she has put so much into the franchise, what a slap in the face. Very dissappointed in Summit.

I am thinking back to the rumor that they were going to replace Taylor as Jacob. But, even though they were talking about it, he turned it around. Not to mention all the fans freaking out! This seemed like they were trying to be very hush hush about it because they didn’t want the fans to get wind of it til it was a done deal. If they are already sending out press releases that BDH is replacing Rachelle then it is done. What can we do? They’ve got us. We will still go see the movie because we love the Twilight series. It just simply sucks!

Grrrrr! Stupid decision on Summit’s part. This change really annoys me! I love Rachelle as Victoria. She’s perfect! If Rachelle wanted out it would be one thing but it really sucks that Summit gave her the boot for someone who had a bigger name – No offence to Ron Howard’s daughter but I want Rachelle back!

What a horrible let down! To essentially “fire” a fan favorite! Rachelle was one of the most charming and fun actresses in the group. I always loved seeing a interview from her. And she really went out of her way to be accessable and to be interviewed.
What a truely stupid thing for Summit and David Slade to do right at the start of Eclipse! Are they forgetting the old saying “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you”? (the FANS are the hand that has fed Summit!)
Not to insult the other actress, I’m sure she’s very talented and will do well in Eclipse, but I think it all boils down to a couple of things: money and how nice it must be to be the daughter of Ron Howard!
Did they honestly think that by announcing all this at 10:00 at night that people would just let it pass? I think it’s obvious that they set out to screw over Rachelle. I am absolutely positive that they could’ve worked around a lousy ten days.
Speaking for myself, I am mad enough to chew nails. What they did was nothing short of pure tackiness.
The fans have stood behind Summit … supported them in an unbelievable way. What they did to the Rachelle and the fans is the ultimate insult. I have lost all respect for these people.

That was ridiculous of Summit to recast in the middle of the series. I think it is so important when you do a series like this to keep the same cast as best as possible. They really need to give her the role back – she made Victoria into the character we know her as – a new actress will just throw things off!

We have not seen New Moon, so we don’t know if Rachelle’s performance (or maybe a lack of one) influenced the decision to recast. Maybe the acting wasn’t up to par? If that were the case, framing the argument in terms of scheduling conflict seems like an easy way to end the contract and a lot less mean than, “We need a better Victoria.”
I guess I’ll see if this theory flies after seeing New Moon AND nothing against Rachelle, I think she’s super cool!

Comon guys!! The more help the betta!! Send this 2 as much people as u can so we can help save rachelle!!! We need 2 do all we can to help cuz this is all BS on Summits fault n we can eaither help them or hurt them n quite frankly its leading to were the vulturi need 2 b involved!
