So You Think You Can Dance – Twilight Style

I can’t find a video of it online yet, but Twilight made an appearance on (the best TV show ever!) So You Think You Can Dance tonight. Choreographer Sonya Tayeh created a “vampire-esque” dance/story set to Blue Foundation’s Eyes On Fire (from the Twilight Movie Soundtrack) with dancers Kayla and Kupono. The piece was amazing, dark, beautiful and intriguing. Think of Bella while she is transitioning from human to vampire, and Edward pulling her through.
And based on the way Sonya reacted when one of the judges mentioned Twilight as her inspiration (she jumped out of her seat and shouted, “Yes!” 
) I’d say that was exactly what she was going for. As I say all the time, “See, Twilight is everywhere.”

I love So You Think You Can Dance! I was thinking the exact same thing (Bella transitioning and Edward pulling her through) when I saw this dance on the show!

I loved this! When she was talking to them in the studio I was thinking this has to be twilight and then when the music started I actually started screaming! I was so excited to see Twilight being showcased in So you think you can Dance! Loved it!!

I was so excited when I heard the music start. I thought to myself, “Sonya has to be a Twilight fan”. And then to see her reaction when Nigel mentioned Twilight, it confirmed my suspicions. I was so excited, it had me jumping up and down in my seat. And the performance was amazing.

I love that show and the Twilight movie. The dance was brilliant, dark and beautiful. Couldn’t believe they came in at the bottom 3.

What was really disappointing was that they ended up in the bottom three. I was completely shocked because I thought that just the mention of it being inspired by Twilight would have them coast through even if it was terrible. (but it was brilliant!) That couple is easily one of my favorites and I have no idea how they didn’t pull in enough votes with that dance. The only thing I could think was possibly Twilight backlash or something…
