MTV’s dream cast for The Host

MTV is playing the casting game for The Host over on their Hollywood Crush blog. They have listed their first choice for the 3 main characters with two runners up for each role. Their choices:
Melanie/Wanderer- Summer Glau
Summer has played some really screwed up characters in the past, like River Tam from “Firefly” and “Serenity” and Cameron Phillips in “The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” so we know she would be able to pull off two entities battling for control of one mind. Plus, she can kick some serious ass.
Jared- Chris Pine
Jared is supposed to be the epitome of male beauty, and for anyone who saw this years “Star Trek,” you’d know Chris definitely fits that criteria. We also know, thanks to J.J. Abrams, Chris looks just as good aggressive with blood covering his face as he does being sweet and sentimental. We just know he could pull off the two sides: Melanie’s love interest and an intense Wanda hater.
Ian- Brandon Routh
So what if “Superman Returns” tanked? To play a man who is able to fall in love with an alien an awesome, extraordinarily sympathetic alien, but an invading species nonetheless, takes a certain amount of empathy and restraint that were sure Brandon could pull it off. And without all the softening hues of Bryan Singer’s superhero story, Brandon would look good rugged and dirty. And let’s not forget about those gorgeous blue eyes!

I like the picks they made, but -btw- unless I am very wrong, the only way Brandon Routh has blue eyes is wearing colored contacts. I am pretty sure his eyes are brown.

I don’t mind these picks… although I agree with pm, Ian’s eyes must be BLUE BLUE BLUE. And sadly, Summer Glau’s face looks just like my mental image of the Seeker… but I could probably get over it.

I’m having a really hard time picturing Brandon as Ian. He doesn’t even come close to the image I have in my head as Ian. I picture James McAvoy as Ian and it’s going to be hard to adjust to anyone else in that role.
I think I’m going to be even pickier about who plays Ian than I was with who plays Edward. I guess I need to get ready for disappointment

Ian is a very special and beloved character. They need to be very careful who they choose for that role, and he must have blue eyes!

I really only like Chris Pine as the charater of Jared. The others don’t do it for me. And I always pictured Ian as much bigger and brawnier. But James McAvoy? Heck, he could be the cave sweeper and I would watch! HOTTIE!

McAvoy could be fine for Ian even if I imagine him in a different way… I don’t really like the actress chosen for Wanderer but I’m definetly looking forward to see this movie!

I like most of the choices..but I can’t see anyone but Tom Welling as Ian..he’s perfect!

I think Tom Welling looks a little old, and all I can see is Smallville when I look at him, but he does look like Ian. You should check out Ian Somerhalder, though. He’s like perfect for it!

This is the worst cast imaginable! Okay, that was exaggerating, but I can think of a lot better ! I think that Ian Somerhalder would be a PERFECT Ian! He is an awesome actor and he has got the looks. BLUE eyes and everything! I also think that Evangeline Lilly (from Lost) would be an AMAZING Melanie! Jared could be Mathew Fox but I’m not a big fan of his acting. Well, this is just what I think. P;ease google them! They deserve to be wanted by popular demand.
