I tried to listen to it with an open mind and not just like it because it was Twilight related!! I found that after maybe 5 or 6 listens, I really do like most of the songs. There are a few I am not a fan of but I’m pretty sure I’ve never bought an album of any kind and liked every song on it. I think that it definitely has a different vibe than the Twilight soundtrack did…this one is less in your face.
My favorite songs so far are Friends and The Violet Hour.

I feel like I need to listen to the soundtrack more before I can give a thoughtful critique. However, I can say that Anya Marina’s “Satellite Heart” has stuck to my brain. I like the New Moon (The Meadow) – very somber and nice continuation with the piano theme, a la Edward. Being a huge Bon Iver fan, I was a little disappointed with their song – no out of this world harmonies in “Roslyn”.

That’s as much as I will comment now, but I will say again that I’m super pleased that they didn’t try to appeal to the masses by picking mainstream bands. They’ve got some great indie artists represented.

Bailey, I really am on board with your comments. I did find myself really liking it the second time around. I also have NEVER liked an entire album. I do really like a huge part of this one. Well done New Moon people!

I’ve listened to it about three times all the way through already and I like it. It’s very different from the Twilight soundtrack, is a lot more mellow, but that seems to fit since New Moon for the most part is somber. I guess once we see the movie, we’ll see if the soundtrack truly does it justice.

I like it. It’s different and a lot on there I probably wouldn’t normally listen too but it’s really growing on me. I think Solar Midnight is my fav so far. Can’t wait until Nov 20th. It’s taking way too long.

this soundtrack is amazing, its has so many talented artists on it, i couldnt believe it as i read the tracklist. right now i’m loving thom yorke’s ‘hearing damage’, lykke li’s ‘possibilit’y’ and bon iver & st. vincent’s ‘rosyln’. all so haunting and fitting for new moon.

i know several people who have no intrest or clue about the twilight series who are digging this soundtrack due to its amazing credibility. the music director’s did a fabulous job selecting the artists, way to go.

i recommend to anyone to really give this soundtrack a shot who may be feeling on the fence. there is so much talent to appreciate.

oh yeah, and i think its so great that my home town seattle local boy’s death cab for cutie have the lead single from the soundtrack.

I am really liking it more and more as I keep listening to it. The melancholy haunting songs seem to really be inspired by the story (Possibility, Rosyln, Satellite Heart,No Sound But the Wind, Slow Life) and are just beautiful. I do like the more upbeat tracks too (Friends, Monsters, Solar Midnite) they reflect the more playful side of the story (Bella & Jake, the wolves) I also love White Demon Love song and Done All wrong…those, to me, are Edward songs and are perfect for the soundtrack. The Death Cab and Muse songs are good and definitely the most “mainstream”, in my opinion.
New Moon (the meadow) by Alexandre Desplat is just stunning, beautiful… and I know others have said that this is much closer to the Bella’s lullaby they had in their head while reading the books. I agree.
The song “All I Believe In” is really nice too. I don’t know why, I just really like it. What is the language they are singing in?? ( I don’t recognize it)but I think its gorgeous.
That’s my two cents. Very talented artists, a nice eclectic mix which I love. I am very happy with my purchase, and cannot wait to see what scenes the songs will relate to in the movie. One thing I do wish is that the lyrics came with it, its hard to make out all the words in some songs. 29 more days, cannot wait to see the movie!!!

This CD is definitely different from the 1st. It really fits the mood of the movie. We know this movie is going to be sadder and darker and the CD fits that. Great songs: Monsters, Friends, The Violent Hour, actually my list could go on and on..there are only maybe one on the CD that I fast forward through. I like listening to it and figuring out which song they will use in what part of the movie! Enjoy!

I think the cd is very interesting with a great deal of potential. Some of the songs I liked a lot, while others were odd, but the lyrics were dead on as if they were written as a companion in some aspect to the book. Those of you complaining need to realize that you haven’t even seen the movie yet of the scenes that these songs are to be played along with. Sometimes that alone invokes emotion that makes you appreciate a song more than hearing it alone without knowing what it means or let alone why it was picked over some tune that you think represented the movie better. I hated the Twilight soundtrack the first time I heard it and once I had scenes and faces to go along with the tunes it made the soundtracks one of my all time favorites. All of you should be grateful for the early release and quit complaining until you actually know what you’re complaining about.

I am pretty much gonna say the exact same as everyone else! I like it, and the more I listen the more it is growing on me. The kids are already asking for specific songs!:) I know once I see the movie it will be even better. As I listen to the songs I imagine in my head at what point in the story they will be used. I LOVED the Twilight soundtrack as well.

Had to come back to post…I commented earlier that after previewing the album, I’d held off on buying it. Love the bands chosen, but didn’t like the songs….

Well, bought it today and after listening to the songs in full, I think it’s a great soundtrack. A lot of songs’ previews didn’t do them justice at all. (Still don’t like the Muse song though…I tried!) Very depressing though…wow. I had to stop listening it was such a downer…it really was affecting my mood! So, perfect for New Moon. :) I cannot wait to see where they fit into the film!
