Kellan is Ok With Not Being Rob Pattinson

I never knew that Kellan was asked to audition for the part of Edward Cullen, but apparently he was and he just wasn’t interested.

“I was doing [HBO's] Generation Kill and was sent the script in Africa,” Kellan told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show Monday morning. “I put it off, then finally read it and by the time I got back to L.A., they said, ‘OK, are you ready to audition for Edward?’

“I said, ‘I don’t want to play Edward. He’s too complex, too depressing for me.’”

Kellan also told Seacrest that he had no regrets about his decision to take on the Emmett role over the role of the brooding vampire who makes women around the world sigh.

“I’m so happy with Emmett,” he says. “I don’t care to be famous.”
