If you missed Stephenie Meyer on Oprah today Oprah’s website has a summary of the interview here. They have also posted two backstage videos here and here.
I thought either 1) I was hearing things ( with the promo about asking Step about a 5th book OR 2) I missed something!! What did she say???? Unable to play clip……

What authors did Stephanie say that she liked to read? There was one that she said she really loved but I didn’t catch the name. I only got Scott Westerfield.
She mentioned Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, Shakespear, Shannon Hale and Orson Scott Card.

Halle-dang-lujah! I was already upset that SM didn’t get the whole hour show, and then they didn’t answer the questions that they plugged her entire segment! So glad for that clip! Thank you so much!!!

the book she’s reading now is called “everything matters” and she did not know the author’s name.
wow, excellent interview, thanks for the link.
i don’t want to pile on, but midnight sun’s my favorite “book”, too.
how fun that she sees another bella and edward book, it’s clear in her head. fingers crossed she’ll write it someday.

I think anyone who has visited her site and read what she placed up for Midnight Sun is loving it. I can’t even imagine how great it might (meaning if she decides to go back to it) be when she edits and finishes it. I admit after I read all 4 of the saga I go read the Midnight Sun on her sight. I am also SO excited to hear that The Host is looking to maybe be a set!! I am addicted to that book too! I borrowed it from the library, and I didn’t sleep at all until I was done! She is such a great writer, such detail you have no trouble seeing what she wants you to as you read it!!

I haven’t watched my DVRed Oprah Show yet, but I just played the extra video. I too hope Stephs mom keeps up the pressure. I really really would love to read a full version of Midnight Sun!

I agree Brittney, I always imagined The Oprah interview to have Stephenie, some of the cast, the impact on Forks and Native American Culture. I left the house feeling like we got cheated. I guess Oprah don’t get it.

Ang10 – Well on Stephanie’s website (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/index.html) it does say how most the questions on Oprah will not be anything new for the die hard fans. She is answering questions on an on-line site, the answers will be posted on Nov 16th.
So I know what you mean, but at least we have something to look forward to on Monday.

I am SO upset! I had this set to record and it DIDN’T!! Argh!!! I absolutely loathe Oprah but I set my DVR and figured I could endure her for the sake of listening to Stephenie. But alas, it wasn’t meant to be. sigh.

Happy to see that I am not the only one left on my appetite. To bad that Stephanie didn’t get the full hour. I really love this women, continue your great work Stephanie!
First time watching Oprah…Loved Stephanie, the teachers and school, her MOM!! I thought Oprah did a fine job with her. Does Stephanie always talk that fast?
There’s a clip about the 5th book question on the main page here. Oooo! More Host!

Thank you so much for the backstage clips! I am very disappointed in Oprah, I don’t think she gets the full weight of the Saga and how amazing Stephenie truly is! I agree that she could have easily done a full show on Stephenie and New Moon and it would have been amazing!

Oh I don’t think you missed much CapturingLIfe – I was very dissappointed with the Oprah interview… there wasn’t much she said that isn’t on her website! Not much New Moon talk – she didn’t even say what the alternate ending was… no clip, no nothing and YES they plugged “Will there be a 5th book?” and then didn’t even address it on TV!!!! It’s almost a good thing this is the only interview she will be doing. BUT I must add – LOVE her Mom and keep on pushing for MS!!!!

My take on this. We should have expected to not get anything new; SM said so herself. I didn’t know about the new ending of NM and that even her mother is dying for Midnight Sun!
I liked that O focused on the SAHM aspect of S’s life and how becoming a writer helped her regain her sense of self. That is what T. has done for me: regain my love of reading and starting a new hobby; Twilight! LOL! It is nice to have something that is all my own and to read something other than child rearing books again I even joined a bookclub, something I would have been hesitant to do before. And who would have ever guessed that I would go to a midnight showing of anything?!
I liked that the show didn’t focus on “teenage vampire story” and the teen “fans” I put that in quotes b/c I think the vast majority will move on to other things when the next fad hits. I would have liked the focus on Twimoms and why we are inexplicably drawn into this world she created. I don’t think most of us are going anywhere, ever.
I would have liked the show to focus on what the twimoms are doing: new friendships, charity, new businesses (jewelry, crafts, etc.), book clubs, wesites and blogs; all started b/c of a book. How often does that happen?!? and how about what it has done for the town of Forks?
Overall it was better than I expected. and I don’t think O really read the book….
