Hey guys. I really know how everyone feels. I so did not want to love this series. I really didnt have time for a saga. I really did not have time for an obsession. My husband is in a band and does a lot of traveling for music and touring so when he is gone it is just me and the kids. I did not have time to fall in love with a new obsession but when my 15 yr old would not let up....I gave in and now there is no saving me. LOL! She talked me into watching the movie w/her one night (I could not fathom why I would want to watch a movie about sparkly vamps-I liked my vamps with blood in horror movies, haha) and I liked it but it felt like I was missing too much of the story. Like there were so many secrets I wasnt getting b/c I did not know the whole story. Well being obsessive as I am I decided I would read the book as I had time. I read it in one night! Then I read the other 3 in 3 1/2 days (would have been 3 if my husband had not flown in from California the last day requiring me to put it down to pick him up from airport-lol). I loved them. My friends thought I was crazy but I finally convinced them to read the books and now we are all Twihards together! ;-) The best part is my husband is like I am just glad you have a fictional boyfriend for when I am on tour - I dont REALLY have to compete w/a fictional boyfriend. LOL! I am not sure how many times I have read through the whole series now but if I did know how many times it would be enough that I probably would not admit it with a post b/c people would talk! haha! I love the series and it is a great escape at the end of the day and a good way to entertain my mind while my man is away! ;-)

I picked up the series after reading that EW article too. Mainly because of the part of the article about TwilightMOMS. I'd picked up the books at the bookstore before and put them back down because I wasn't into vampire stories. LOL I figured if 10,000+ other women my age loved them, I might too. :)

I am loving the dialogue.

I pray that milwnavymom is doing great after her surgery.

Ragga, how fast do you read?

I love that we are speaking to Iceland-how cool is that. It cannot be colder than Canada- and yes, in Canada, because it is so big, we get really cold and really hot weather.

Wishing our American TwilightMoms a great Thanksgiving weekend. In Canada, our Thanksgiving is in October. I am thinking of also celebrating Thanksgiving in November. We will have two Thanksgivings. Nothing wrong with that.

The United States gave us Stephenie Meyer-Thank you.

I love the websites as well. It 's fun.
Wishing all to stay safe.

I only dicovered the books last May and instantly fell in love. I finished all the four books in less than a week and then watched the movie probably over 5 times. Since then I've boon online every day but only recently found this website and how lovely it is to know I'm not the only "older" Twihard! I've been mocked by my husband and friends for my obsession for months now, really thinking I was borderline-crazy so it's quite a relief.

I'm actually Icelandic and here, the books and movie were solely advertised for teenagers. The "older" following has been VERY underground to say the least. Since I am postgraduate educated and currently work as a CEO for a medium sized company I thought I was going crazy with al my teenage feelings succumbing! I actually started to compare my husband to Edward and complain if he didn't do things they way Edward would have!!! I know, kind of crazy huh? But still - I couldn't help it.

But I've relentlessly been spreading the word of Twilight and of course my former mockers have fallen in love with the series too and we're all going to see the movie together next weekend when it hits the theathers here.

I started reading the Twilight series while in the hospital after cancer surgery. My daughter had read the books and thought these would be something I would enjoy and be able to get into. I'll admit, I had a hard time being able to focus enough to understand what was going on in Twilight, until Jen brought the dvd for me to watch. Then all the pieces clicked (it helped that my mind was starting to unfuzz!) and I started reading all Twilight! My husband picks on me all the time about my obsession, and I don't care! I love the romance and the emotions the book generates. I'm seeing New Moon this afternoon with my niece - and I'm making my husband take me to see it again next Friday. I'm a Twilight Mom and Grandma, and that's all there is to it!

I loved this article! I bought the first book only after reading the first EW cover story back in summer of 2008, and thought that maybe it might be a good "escape read" - just something I could read at home on a rainy day. I tore through the first one, bought the second and third and read all three over one weekend. And, like one of the women from the article, I found that after reading them, I recognized that I had been "numb" - and these books seemed to release feelings that I hadn't had in a long time. To me, they made me see everything and everyone around me a little more clearly. So, I'm very thankful for the Twilight Books, and now the movies. I'm a Twilight Mom, who now has a Twilight Mom, Twilight Sister, Twilight Aunt, Twilight Nieces, and several Twilight Friends! It's great. Thank you, Stephenie Meyer!

Fabulous responses from the previous dazzling women. I am proud to be a part of this space.

Like Stephenie Meyer, a lot of us are university educated women, working full time or part time jobs, in whatever disciplines, enjoying the Twilight Saga. It makes for great conversations among family and friends, whether husbands are mocking us or girlfriends and sisters are engaging in interesting conversations.

From an educational perspective, my twelve years old daughter read all the books, five times. She introduced the series to myself and most of her aunts. The books are a joy to read. My daughter also receives reading credits at her school for reading the books. The tests are extremely detailed, and she must be very well prepared to get good grades.

Nothing is more important than to continue, worldwide, the love of reading. We are introduced to an amazing group of actors and directors that keep us entertained through cinema.

By the way, I am Canadian and Team Aro, Marcus, and Caius.

I love reading all these comments. I am 42 & Twilight obsessed. Don't know why but I just love reading the books over & over & watching the movies. I have checked the internet every day for a year to see how New Moon was going & would get so excited if new footage was released. Now I'll do the same with Eclipse. I only started reading the books because a friend told me my 12 year old shouldn't be reading them. How wrong was she & what did she start!!!!! Now my daughter loves reading not only Twilight but other books too. I am so grateful to Stephanie Meyer & the Twilight series for that. My husband & boys think I'm nuts (my daughter does a little bit too) but what harm is there in somethig that brings me so much happiness??? I am a normal suburban housewife & mother who just also happens to be a Twilight Mum and am proud of it.

Breanna Lane, I agree with you it is a sacrilege when someone does not even know what Twilight is. I had to explain to two different people today what Twilight was. And even though I have been ecstatic and hyper for the past year in anticipation for New Moon and telling everyone how I can't wait for it to come out, today my own sister thought everyone was excited about an actual moon! Now that is a sacrilege. She also tried to tell me that I did not have time to see the movie today and that I should save it for another day and that I should check my priorities. I told her that I am. Wait one more day to see the movie? I don't think so.

I am a proud Twilight Mom...with my own Twilight Mom, and a Twilight daughter! I started reading the books first in 2008, then my 14 year-old daughter (coincidentally named Cullyn) joined in, and then my mom read the saga! All three of us saw Twilight together. Cullyn and I saw New Moon twice today (midnight and afternoon shows). I'm 40 and my co-workers don't get it. So what? I just wrote a blog post about this...

I love the Twilight series. I actually saw Twilight the movie first and followed with the books. I've been hooked ever since. I was anxiously awaiting the movie today and i was not disappointed. Im 33 years old and I love it, and Im definitely not embarassed to say it. My co-workers knew I was waiting for this day months ago. I had them countdown with me. I'm a Twilighter for life!! Ready for Eclipse now.

Not sure why we older readers are being criticized. Stephenie Meyer wrote some great fiction. Would we be made fun of if we read Romeo and Juliet? After all, Juliet was only 13. And especially for us older ladies, maybe there's a lot of associational value, I let an Edward get away some 40 years ago. Great reads, regardless of age, and the transition to the movies was so well done, beautiful and talented cast. So who doesn't like to be entertained?? By the way, I am a retired English teacher, 62 years old and I don't feel like a leacherous old lady!!! Thank you Stephenie for creating books that encourage old and young alike to read.

You know, I too tried to not like them, in fact, I was not much of a reader, AT ALL..... Then Twilight hit and it was all over then. I read all the time now, I have read the Twilight series 5 times and intend to read them again, but taking a break from that one, I have discovered MANY more books including 2 series that have been turned into TV series. My husband calls me obsessed and told me that he was sure that if there was a such thing in vampires I would want to be one. (??) I am proud to say that I am 42 years old and LOVE ME SOME TWILIGHT!!
