New Moon has qualified for consideration for the 2009 Academy Awards, which means it is eligible to be nominated in the various categories. Nominations will be announced on February 2 and the 82nd Annual Academy Awards presentation will take place on March 7.
In addition to New Moon, many of the cast members’ other films have qualified, including Adventureland (Kristen Stewart), Coraline (Dakota Fanning), Little Ashes (Robert Pattinson), The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond (Bryce Dallas Howard), My Bloody Valentine (Edi Gathegi), Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (Michael Sheen), and Up in the Air (Anna Kendrick).

UP IN THE AIR – WORTHY, ADVENTURELAND – ?, loved Jessee Eisenberg. The others? New Moon is worthy of the fans hearts, but anything else? Soundtrack, yes, but let’s not kid ourselves on anything else.
It would be great if Summit would make an Oscar worthy film from the Twilight series, but we’re not there yet.

Well, most any movie “qualifies”, as long as it is made within the yearly guidelines. I think we should be more realistic in our discussions, talking about which of these movies could be nominated for an Oscar and for what category.
Up in the Air, of course; My Bloody Valentine, NO WAY.
Now, New Moon could get on the long list for best visual effects, but realistically, not the short list.

While it’s great to see the words “Oscar” and Twilight anything in the same sentence, I’m not going to hold my breath that they’ll actually get any nominations. That list is basically a list of every movie that was released in 2009, so it’s no surprise at all to see New Moon listed there.
I would LOVE it if they got recognized for something!! I think our best best is still the MTV movie awards!
