“Remember Me Saturday” fan initiative

Posted on 19. Feb, 2010 by in News

I know a lot of fans are planning to see Remember Me when it hits theaters on March 12 (with Summit recently sweetening the deal with the promise of an Eclipse trailer!!), and all the new clips, stills and TV spots are definitely helping to feed the excitement. Now some fans have started an initiative called “Remember Me Saturday” encouraging fans to see the movie a second time on Saturday, March 13 – and take along their family and friends for the viewing. Here’s the information we received:

Remember Me Saturday
Take your friends and family to see Remember Me on Saturday, March 13th for this Nationwide Fan Event. Support Rob and everyone who worked on this film by joining with people from all over the country to help make opening weekend for Remember Me a success.

Remember Me Saturday is a fan-led campaign that was conceived as a National Fan Event on Saturday, March 13th. Since most fans will already be seeing Remember Me on Friday, Saturday became the day chosen to hold this campaign to make a difference with the box office receipts.

The idea is for fans to go back on Saturday March 13th to see Remember Me again and take their family and friends, as well as to emphasize the importance of seeing the movie during opening weekend in order to shape public perception of the overall value of the film.

You can check out the site they created and grab their banner here. What do you think of “Remember Me Saturday”? Do you plan to see the movie on Friday and Saturday?

Definitely not with the prices of movies these days… If I go back to see it again, it would be another week… not the same weekend. And also, only if I reallllly liked it the first time.

Money wise I plan on seeing it once, until it comes out on DVD. That friday is our girls night out so we are all excited to go. But I totaly agree with the reasoning behind the initiative.

Saw it on friday and today the movie was packed. How can box office gross only be 3.5 million? I have to believe that it wasn’t shown in enought theaters.
