Stephenie Meyer listed as a producer of Breaking Dawn- but what does that mean?

Yesterday’s press release about the director of Breaking Dawn stated that Stephenie Meyer will be a producer of the film. Many people (myself included) didn’t know exactly what that means. Amanda Bell, The Twilight Examiner, has a great article that explains it.
A lot of you have reached out with inquiries about what it means that she’ll serve as a producer, so here’s the basic gist of what a producer is, does, and how it relates to Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn.
For starters, a producer, by generic definition is “the person on a movie set who makes sure everyone shows up and knows what to do when—and who knows beforehand what’s being served for lunch.”

I think this is wonderful news. I am so grateful that she has decided to take this very “hands on” approach to the final movie(s). I feel very hopeful that we will get just the movie we want. I have been on some sites where they’re saying that if Stephanie is this involved, then the steamy scenes they want to see will be watered down and also concerned about the PG-13 rating. I disagree, in the books Stephanie does not go into graphic detail describing sexual scenes. For instance, we know that Edward and Bella got really “carried away” cuz Bella wants to know “why I am covered in feathers?” as well as the fact that Edward tore up the headboard, etc. etc. The same sense of intensity can be easily conveyed in the movie. I think with Stephenie this involved, it will be great. Also, I’ve been thinking that Breaking Dawn could be done in one movie if the movie was closer to 3 hours and, in a way, I’m starting to think I would prefer that. We’ve got Eclipse to look forward to and I think we’re going to be very happy with it…it looks like it’s going to have everything we want, romance, action, excitement – lots of Edward…(that’s what I’m looking forward to) and then in a year one more really good movie of Breaking Dawn. Otherwise, we will have to wait for Eclipse, then another year for Breaking Dawn Part 1 and another year perhaps for Breaking Dawn Part 2. What do you other TwiMoms think?

I think this is great news! This could be a “trickier” movie than the others and her voice on the project could be the thing that makes this movie fantastic. I don’t mind the idea of it being made into 2 movies. In fact the longer this saga is stretched out the better, I think! I don’t want it to ever end!

I agree, I think its great shes being more involved. Ive seen a lot of negativaty on the subject though and I dont understand that…I mean she wrote the books…why wouldnt she be great? lol Anyways. I think I agree with warnagirl, 2 movies would be great…make it last as long as possible!
