TwilightMOMS Review of FAME: Robert Pattinson

Thanks to Bluewater Productions, TwilightMOMS received an early look at their new comic book, FAME: Robert Pattinson (available in comic stores and on Amazon on May 26).

The comic tells the story of Rob’s rise to fame from acting with a small theater group in London through his life-changing role in Twilight using a “sensory presentation” of his life: sight, smell, sound, touch and taste.

Though this is certainly an interesting and unique approach to telling Rob’s story, it doesn’t always work out well as some of his acting roles and the information provided don’t neatly fit into these 5 senses: “Sound” very clearly allows the comic book to describe Rob’s much appreciated musical abilities, but “Smell” leads to an awkward page that focuses on Rob’s smoking habit.

Bluewater provides two different covers in the comic book, labeled Cover A and Cover B (above). While Cover B’s graphic is fantastic (and even Cover A is impressive), some of the images within the comic book fall a bit short and look hastily drawn. Not that you could ever doubt who the scruffy, sunglasses wearing, messy-haired male drawings are of!

I appreciate the attention the comic book provides to his other films, including his upcoming projects Bel Ami and Unbound Captives. There were even a few details on past films and roles that were completely new to me! However, I felt like there could have been more of a focus on Twilight, and the increasing level of celebrity he’s garnered after New Moon and leading up to Eclipse and Breaking Dawn (but maybe that’s just my personal bias toward The Twilight Saga!)

Overall, while FAME: Robert Pattinson has its ups and downs, it’s a fun piece of memorabilia to add to fans’ collections :)
