Latest news on Breaking Dawn filming

Posted on 31. Aug, 2010 by in News

A couple weeks ago we posted Summit’s answers to some Breaking Dawn rumors that had been making their way around the internet. In the last few days there have been some additional updates on Breaking Dawn filming – no word from Summit on these bits of info, so consider them rumors for now.

According to Malicious Mandy:

I got an email over the weekend from a fellow Twilight fan in Baton Rouge. Here are some details she sent me regarding Pre-Production of Breaking Dawn:

* studio is secure and gated but busy.
* a lot of construction going on in the lots (unsure if related to filming or not, it seems likely)
* they are using the lot across from studio also (for storage and vehicles at this point)
* Bill Condon has been spotted in town and is staying at a private location not too far from studios

And from The Daily Blam:

Recently, Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the highly lucrative film series The Twilight Saga, announced that filming for the franchise’s final chapter, Breaking Dawn, will partially take place in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A source within the Louisiana Film Commission has disclosed to me that members of the Breaking Dawn production crew have already scouted out the location they are planning to use for the film; which the studio is releasing in two parts.

The scene will be the final confrontation between the Cullen clan, who are joined by the Quileute wolf pack and their friends, and the Volturi. The scene, most of which is taken directly from the novel, has been extended to include several physical fights. It is expected that many Twilight fans will be flocking to Louisiana when the studio begins filming in the area; which is why the exact area the production team has decided on is being kept tightly under wrap.

Hopefully the confrontation scene with physical fights is wrong. That would so ruin it. It is a chess game for pete’s sake, not a fist fight. SM in the book repeatedly from different characters stress how if any fighting started it would not be stopped until one side or other finished – it would be all or nothing. The fight scene in New Moon was not right. The fight scene with Victoria and Reily getting their hands on Edward’s head wasn’t right in Eclipse. Get this last one right.

I think that a few minor skermishes might be kind of fun. I know that the main “fight” is a chess game, but I’ve always felt that there should have been some minor scuffles in that last scene in the book. It’s a bit to fairytale when you really look at it. Even if the scuffles are immediately deflected by Ben’s powers or Kate’s electric personality. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing Jane get her head torn off by some one, even if it’s put back on. I think it’s a bit out of character for Emmett to not do anything but stand there… Depending on what they do, this could be a good thing as long as it doesn’t change the end of the story…no permanent deaths, a standoff between the Voluturi & Cullens, etc.

OMG ! I agree with Pam.stay as true to the chess game story as much as possible. The fact Bella realizes her shield is growing is a must see and it is a major storyline! Please stay true to the book !!!

I live in Oklahoma and hope to make a weekend trip to Louisiana while filming is taking place. :) I also hope the battle scene is as close to the book as possible.

Stay true to the books that is what Twihards are waiting for to see the book come to life, changing it for people who are to lazy to read the books spoils it for the ones who have.
