A Special Note From Bill Condon on Breaking Dawn
Posted on 01. Oct, 2010 by Amanda31 in News
Breaking Dawn Director Bill Condon wrote the following note to The Twilight Saga fans, providing an update on some of the folks involved in the film:
Hello fans!
Has it really been five months (and a day) since my last dispatch? In my defense, they’ve been five months spent immersed in the world of TWILIGHT – something I’m sure you can all appreciate. We’re in the thick of pre-production now, juggling everything from casting to storyboarding to location scouting, getting it all ready to go, but I do want to take a moment to announce to you exclusively a few of the amazing production team members who are hard at work alongside me, bringing these movies to life. I hope you’ll be as excited about them as I am:
Guillermo Navarro, who won an Academy Award for the beautiful PAN’S LABYRINTH, is our cinematographer. Guillermo and I have been painstakingly planning each shot, with a team of very talented storyboard artists.
Michael Wilkinson, our costume designer, is bringing his brilliant vision to the styles of all your favorite characters. Michael’s created fantastic looks for 300, WATCHMEN, and the upcoming TRON: LEGACY – just wait ’til you see his take on the vampire witnesses who come to Forks from around the globe.
Jean Black, our makeup designer, has worked extensively with the Coen Brothers and David Fincher, most recently making exquisite, award-winning contributions to THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON. I’m honored to be working with her.
Richard Sherman, with whom I made GODS AND MONSTERS and KINSEY, is on-board as our production designer. Richard’s one of my oldest collaborators and a terrific designer, and you may be interested to know that he also happens to be a lifelong vampire aficionado.
Our Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor John Bruno has been responsible for some of the most memorable special effects ever, with his groundbreaking work on display in everything from POLTERGEIST to AVATAR. He and his team are working intensely to develop solutions to the host of special effects challenges that Stephenie created for us in BREAKING DAWN, including that remarkable kid…
Wonderful, imaginative people all and very exciting, intense times for us. Even with the months of work we’ve already put in, we’re barely underway on the journey, and I do hope to get back to you much sooner next time with more news. Until then, thanks for your warm reception and continued support!
Very best regards,
Bill
What an amazing team! Personally, I am super excited that Guillermo Navarro will be the cinematographer for Breaking Dawn (Pan’s Labyrinth is amazingly beautiful!).

Doesn’t this get you excited?
I’m so glad that someone like him is in charge after the awful messes New Moon and Eclipse were. He sounds like he’s really passionate about it.

Awful messes, Rachel???
I’m very excited to see what Bill Condon brings to the table with Breaking Dawn, but I think that’s a bit harsh!

Sorry, but I loved what the other directors did to the Twilight Saga…I am glad he has such talented people aboard, especially for costumes, Bella needs to start to get dressed up more (ALICE, alittle help here ! ) and start looking more of age…sexy won’t hurt. Remember, she wakes up a Vampire in a blue silk sheath and stiletos!! No jeans and flannel please. The new cast so far looks promising.

I think that the movies have evolved just like the novels and “Awful Mess” was a little hard. I have loved all the movies (my friend and I just saw Eclipse for the third time in the theatere last night before it goes away!) And llok foward to what Bill Condin does. He is going to bring a level of class and prestige to the Saga for sure. Remember That BD was the most grown up of the books and will translate into the most grown up of the movies ! Can not wait to see it Bill!!!!!

I for one can’t wait to see what Bill is bringing to the table. I think it will be classy, elegant, beautiful and fun… I can’t wait to see Bella and Edward together finally the way they have waited for for too long. Also, I have loved every one of the previous movies; no they aren’t perfect, but they have all been special in some certain way or another. On another side note, I hope Bill puts in there when Bella and Emmett arm wrestle

Rachel – ‘awful mess’ i don’t agree
I have loved each of the movies – yes each of them may not have pleased all of the fans all of the time and i agree with the other comments here that just like the books and charaters the movies evlove and mature with each step. I just love BC’s dedication to the movie, books and fans, and i know he’ll do a great job in making BD into the movie the fans know it can be – so far so good with the choices he and the team has made and btw what a team eh !!
