Rachelle Lefevre and Xavier Samuel have new movie news coming out of this week’s American Film Market (AFM), a venue for film industry folks to get together and sort out production and distribution deals. The first photo from Rachelle’s upcoming film The Caller, currently in post production, was released.

Synopsis of The Caller: Directed by Matthew Parkhill from a script by Sergio Casci, the story concerns a troubled divorcee, Mary Kee (played by Lefevre, who replaced the late Brittany Murphy during production). She moves into a new apartment, where she comes across an old telephone that she falls in love with; however, when she hooks it up, she begins to receive strange calls from a mysterious woman named Rose (DRAG ME TO HELL’s Lorna Raver). The two eventually establish an unlikely friendship, but when Rose claims to be calling from the past, Mary grows suspicious of her new friend. As Rose’s phone calls grow more disturbing, Mary cuts off contact with Rose, who threatens terrible revenge—not just on the Mary of the present, but Mary as a child in the past… THE CALLER also stars two other vampire veterans, TRUE BLOOD’s Stephen Moyer and INNOCENT BLOOD’s Luis Guzmán.

It was also announced that Xavier will star in the upcoming Bait 3D, currently in production.

Synopsis of Bait 3D: In a sleepy beach community shoppers at an underground supermarket are terrorized by a crazed bandit when the unimaginable occurs: A monstrous freak tsunami swallows the town. Now trapped, with rushing water threatening to entomb them in a watery grave the survivors discover they are not alone. The tsunami has brought unwanted visitors from the depths. Not only must they overcome the threat of drowning and the predator within their midst, but a threat far more deadly and far more bloodthirsty – packs of hungry tiger sharks.
