MTV Coverage of the Water for Elephants Trailer

MTV has been writing nonstop about the trailer for Robert Pattinson’s new film Water for Elephants since it was released last night. Since I love this book and, if the trailer is any indication, I think this is going to be a great movie, I’m totally OK with the trailer receiving a ton of coverage. So here’s a quick run-down of the various stories MTV has written so far today.
General thoughts on the Water for Elephants trailer:
The trailer (watch it after the jump) highlights the most important parts of this story: It’s set in a circus, it follows a love triangle, it’s ill-fated and it has elephants. However, this love triangle that Rob is involved in is a bit less complex than the one in “The Twilight Saga.” Rob plays a new man joining the circus, and he falls for Reese Witherspoon’s character, the circus’ star attraction. The only problem is that she is married to the circus’s head honcho, played by the villainously wonderful Christoph Waltz. Let the drama begin.
Comparing Water for Elephants to Titanic:
The first thing that occurs to us watching this trailer is that it’s a whole lot like “Titanic”… except that the events unfold amid a traveling circus rather than upon a giant ocean liner. Depression-era setting? Check! Love triangle with beautiful woman, overbearing older lover and baby-faced younger suitor? Check! Climactic disaster providing the backdrop for the resolution of all things?
… As in “Titanic,” R.Patz and R.With’s characters go ahead and get together anyway, with explosive results. And just when you think you know where the story is going, along comes the epic, catastrophic finale to throw you for a loop. But don’t worry — it has nothing to do with an iceberg, an ocean liner, a gargantuan diamond or a girl named Rose.

Reese’s white pony trick look
Wearing a winter white leotard (flat sequins, included) with a tiara, leather gloves and white tights, Reese gracefully lies on a white pony and gracefully looks lovely.Robert’s dinner tuxedo
While Rob mostly wears a rumpled vest and button down for most of the trailer, when he’s out to dinner in his tuxedo, cleaned up just right, we take notice! And, it seems, so does Reese.

I hate being the one who says this… but… Titanic didn’t sink during the depression era. I feel really, really old negating a super-star MTV writer though so I thought I would leave the comment here instead. Were people my own age can call me a party pooper.

Someone pinch me really really hard. I know I’m awake but I must be dreaming….and I know there MUST be SOMETHING wrong with him, but for the love of god, I see nothing but sheer PERFECTION in Rob!!!

I only read the book because Rob was going to be in it. I truly got caught up in a fantastic storyline and enjoyed it more than I thought possible.. He looks great in the trailor,I know he has a romance with Reese but I can’t really see them together other than this film. I wish the best for Rob and Kristen in a real romance, one than started because of Twilight but one of chemistry one can’t deny.

These pics are so great! It’s like what Edward would be doing if he never caught Spanish influenza and became a vampire. Looking forward to seeing it!
