Peter Facinelli on Nurse Jackie and Life After Twilight

Zap2it spoke with Peter Facinelli about his what his character, Dr. Cooper on Nurse Jackie, will go through this season:

“He’s been kind of knocked off of his horse… he’s at a low point in his life,” Facinelli tells Zap2it. “For him, the arc this season is that he needs to grow up a little bit. So in pure Coop fashion, he decides to grow up in all the wrong ways.”

The major catalyst for this need to mature comes with the separation. “His family gets ripped apart through divorce,” he says. “He then decides he’s going to find a girl and get married as soon as possible. It has nothing to do with love. It’s the pure fact of wanting to replace the family that he’s lost.”

Peter also talked about what he will do after Twilight filming is done:

“We’ve been filming for six months, so some time off would be nice,” he says, laughing. “I don’t know what my next gig is going to be. I did a film that I wrote produced and starred in last fall, and that’s in post production.”

“Loosies,” Facinelli’s first feature project as a writer, follows a New York pickpocket who discovers he unwittingly fathered a child with a one-night stand. “We’re going to have a distributors screening soon,” adds Facinelli, “so hopefully that will be coming out in theaters.”
