The Host Director Andrew Niccol Confirms 3 Movies

Posted on 22. Oct, 2011 by in News

The Los Angeles Times caught up with The Host director Andrew Niccol on the red carpet premiere of his film In Time and asked a couple questions about The Host, starting around the 1:15 mark. He talks about adapting the book to the screen, says we should expect more casting news “soon,” and calls Saoirse Ronan “fantastic.”

Also, in an interview with the New Zealand Herald, Andrew confirms that The Host will be a three-part franchise.

His next project will be as director and writer of The Host, adapting the best-selling novel by Twilight author Stephanie Meyer about aliens inhabiting human life forms.

“It’s a liberating feeling that I’ll be directing something I haven’t had to make up. It’ll be fun. But I have to say, Stephanie gave me her 650-page book to adapt. That’s a workout to start with but I’ve managed to get it down to a script and there are two more movies coming after the initial movie,” he says. Clearly, he enjoys a challenge. “Well, yes. At first I thought, ‘this is going to be impossible’.”

You can read the full article at the New Zealand Herald. All I have to say is, bring on the sequels to The Host!

The Host was always meant to be written as a trilogy, so we’re assuming that he’s saying there will be three movies total, meaning two more after the first Host movie. Hopefully that means Stephenie will write the two sequels to The Host soon!
