The theme of Snow White seems to be very en vogue in entertainment right now. There’s quite a bit of anticipation swirling around Kristen Stewart’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” which goes for a darker feel and a Snow White that kicks butt. And then there’s the lighter, family-fun version starring Taylor Lautner’s “Abduction” co-star, Lily Collins, “Mirror Mirror, coming in March.
Finally, if you haven’t discovered ABC’s “Once Upon A Time” on every Sunday night, you need to go catch up on this fabulous TV series which weaves together the lives of all our favorite fairy tale characters and puts a modern day spin on it. One of the primary story lines involves (you guessed it) Snow White.
The next Snow White-ish themed project will be Disney’s, “Order of Seven.” According to Variety, Saoirse Ronan, (who is playing Melanie Stryder in Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host” & just started filming this week) is in final talks to star in this movie.
“Order of Seven” has been in development since ’02 and began as “Snow and the Seven.” It had more of the fairy tale elements but has since moved further away from that.
The action-adventure film would see Ronan playing a British expatriate in 19th century Hong Kong named Olivia Sinclair, who seeks the protection of the legendary group of warriors, only to find out that they are now a jaded group of outlaws. When the ancient evil empress reemerges, Sinclair has to help the warriors reclaim their destiny and noble roots.
