A new convention has been scheduled in Nashville Tennessee on November 6-8, 2009. This isn’t a normal Twilight convention though.  Read the description from their main page-

As you’ll soon see, our events are more like festivals than conventions. With that said, this is an event created to inspire creativity and awareness of the arts in all forms. Come with an open mind and bring your imagination!

Everyone is part of our community and we want all of you to feel welcomed. Our goal is for everyone to have a good time and not worry about whether or not you can bring your camera or if you’re allowed to say hi to a cast member. Of course you can!

We gear our daily events around things that are fun for the guests and the cast, which include art and poetry contests as well as musical acts. Winners from these contests get a private meet & greet with attending cast and band members. In addition, the winning poet will also have their work read LIVE at Saturday’s ball by an attending cast member.

Jackson Rathbone’s band, 100 Monkeys, will soon be tweeting about their ‘design your own t-shirt’ contest. The winning shirt will actually get printed as a limited edition item and sold on their website. All of the money from the sale of the winning t-shirt will be donated to the Spencer Bell Legacy project. Which brings up a good point. A portion of ALL of proceeds from the NewCon Festival will be donated to the Spencer Bell Legacy Project.

If you don’t know about Spencer Bell yet, you should click on the Spencer Bell button on our site or visit www.SpencerBellMemorial.com. Spencer’s artwork, poetry and lyrics will be featured throughout the festival..

The band will also be having an open JAM session for any musicians that want to participate. If that’s you, bring your bongos and let’s make it happen. Jackson and the band will also be bringing in other celebrities just for fun. It’s going to be a great weekend.  100 Monkeys will also be hosting a concert Saturday night after the ball.

We’ll have the webmasters from all of the top Twilight-inspired websites on-hand and in panel discussions talking to fans about starting and keeping up with their own websites.

There will be LIVE open forums on acting & modeling and how to break into the business. We will also have Q & A sessions with cast and crew members about anything and everything. If you’ve ever had a burning question that you just had to ask, here’s your chance.

Attending the Atlanta TwiTour Convention just got even better.  We just got this announcement from the convention organizers-

Get up close and personal with Twilight Costumes!

John’s fascination with the Twilight book series lead him into curating one of the largest private collections of Twilight film props and wardrobe. He has spent countless hours researching, searching and finding both screen-worn pieces and exact duplicates of costumes and props worn/used by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone and Rachel Lefevre in the TWILIGHT and NEW MOON films for his personal enjoyment. We are proud to have John and his assistant Maggie at Twi-Tour Atlanta! They will be on hand to share his amazing collection, so have your camera’s ready – you won’t want to miss the chance to have your photo taken with some of Twilightdom’s most iconic costume pieces, including Edward’s wool peacoat and Bella’s blue prom dress!

Photo’s of the costumes and props are encouraged, but please be respectful to John, his collection and everyone in attendance.

Attention Teachers!!!  Here’s another great reason to go to Summer School in Forks!

Thanks to a partnership with Peninsula College of Port Angeles, Washington, SSIF is offering Washington State Clock Hours for attendance in approved workshops.  If you are an educator in the K-12 system you are eligible to apply and receive a minimum of three (3) clock hours by attending a minimum of three approved workshops.  There will be a $15 fee per applicant due to Peninsula College.  This is due when your form is turned into the LIFE, Inc. staff.  To participate in this option please pick up a “Clock Hours” packet at the check-in desk.  All completed registration forms, verification forms and student evaluations will be returned by the LIFE, Inc. staff to Peninsula College on the final day of programming.
 
Workshops that are credit-bearing are noted in the Yearbook. And of course, the symposium can then be used as a tax write-off for continuing education!

And now, some very bad news. Breaking Dawn’s Kindle release date has been pushed back a full day- to August 3rd. For Kindle users (even Stephenie’s a user- she recently mentioned using her Kindle in People magazine’s July 25th issue- see blog post here), it’s an outrage!  Here’s a quote from TwilightMOM kempette expressing her concerns:  

“Much to my dismay the release for BD on amazon’s Kindle (e-book) has been pushed back a full 24 hours from the main release of the book- until Midnight on Aug THIRD! If I had the guts I’d PM Elizabeth to ask her what the deal is, but since it’s a publisher decision I’m sure she can’t help. I’ve sent an email to Little Brown, asking them to reconsider & I encourage everyone else who reads Steph’s books on Kindle to do the same. After all, Steph is a Kindle reader too!!!! My impression is that this is all a ploy to get more of us to buy more “tree books” in our impatience instead of holding out for our beloved Kindle copies. anyway, a link to the original blog posting is at:

The folks at MTV want to know what you’d ask a star of Twilight if they were standing right next to you.  They are asking for questions to be submitted here.  They are looking for questions with a little more depth than normal so put on your thinking caps and then head on over and let them know what questions you have for the cast.
