By now it’s the stuff of legend, as much a part of “Twilight” history as Stephenie Meyer’s dream, Catherine Hardwicke’s bed or Taylor Lautner’s workout bench. Incoming director Chris Weitz asserted himself on the “New Moon” set by greeting each of the returning actors with a 20-page “orientation guide,” explaining what would be different from Catherine Hardwicke’s “Twilight” experience. Robert Pattinson read it; so did Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — and soon, so can you.

“I’ve been thinking about it, and I’ve decided not to do it,” he said of publishing the book. “Instead, I think I will eventually give the orientation book to the fans — if it’s OK with Summit — for free.”

Keep in mind that nothing is official with regards to this yet. But isn’t it great to know that they’ve already discussed plans to get the guide into the fans’ hands? Twenty pages is like the Twilight Director’s Notebook on overdrive.

MTV: What’s your favorite scene in “New Moon”?

Reed: Anything that Taylor Lautner is in. Seriously, the kid is — he’s not a kid, he’s a young man — but he’s incredible. And I’m not saying that because he takes his shirt off in every scene. [Laughs.] Seriously, you forget that he’s half-naked in every scene, because he is so incredible. He makes this film amazing.

MTV: Tell us about your favorite new character to join the franchise, who wasn’t in the original film.

Reed: All of the wolves. They bring a very obvious warmth. To see people actually interacting and wrestling and touching each other and rolling around in the mud and being a bunch of boys? That was a nice addition. Because the vampires are all very … cold. It sounds super cliché, but there was a lot of interaction, a lot of human interaction [in "New Moon"]. It was nice.

The New Moon Soundtrack came in at the #1 one spot on Billboard this week! According to MTV:

After debuting at #2 last week, the soundtrack to the upcoming “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon,” will take its rightful place atop the Billboard 200 charts next week thanks to more than 153,000 vampire and werewolf-loving shoppers.

I know I have my copy of the soundtrack! Do you? If not, I highly encourage you to pick up a copy because the music selection is fantastic.

“Wow, am I glad we were able to shoot there,” Weitz said with a laugh in a recent phone interview with MTV News. “We went to about 12 different hilltop towns in Tuscany, which was both delightful and exhausting, because it had to be done relatively quickly. Montepulciano had the most symmetrical main square that I could find, so that was the winner for that reason.”

Fans can expect about 20 minutes of the film to be spent in Italy or in interior shots set in Italy. While trailers released for “New Moon” show hints of flashbacks featuring the Volturi, Weitz said most of the time is dedicated to the present day.

New York, NY – October 23, 2009 – MTV unleashes insane musical mayhem along with a sneak peek at an exclusive clip from “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and commentary from cast members in the network’s first-ever Halloween special, “Ulalume: Howling at New Moon.”   The one-hour program, premiering on MTV at 9pm ET/PT on Friday, October 30, 2009, will feature explosive performances by Paramore, AFI, Dead By Sunrise and Kid Cudi as they rock the stage from MTV’s Ulalume Halloween Festival, hosted by tattoo vixen and star of L.A. Ink Kat Von D.  The show will also air on MTV2 at 10pm ET/PT, and on mtvU, MTV’s 24 hour college network, at 11 pm ET/PT.

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” cast members will take part in the special with Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed kicking off the TV program from one of the most feared haunted houses in North America.  Fans will salivate as Ashley Greene dishes on some of the rumors that have been swarming for months.  Additionally, during the Halloween special, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will introduce an exclusive, sneak-peek clip from Summit Entertainment’s highly-anticipated film “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” which arrives in theaters on November 20, 2009.

“Ulalume” is the title of a poem by 19^th century poet Edgar Allen Poe which possesses a rhythmic sound and repetition that gives the ballad a musical quality, inspiring the festival name.

Anna Kendrick has the sneaking suspicion that her life is about to change. She’s onto something. The 24-year-old actress will star opposite George Clooney in Up in the Air, Jason Reitman’s adaptation of the best-selling Walter Kirn novel about a man obsessed with accruing frequent flier miles. “I’m allowing myself to think about the possibility that this could be a big deal, because I think the worst thing would be to get caught off guard,” says Kendrick, best known for playing Jessica, the fickle friend to Kristen Stewart’s Bella in Twilight. (She will reprise the role in this fall’s ravenously anticipated sequel, New Moon.)

IFC has acquired domestic rights to “Against the Current,” written and directed by Peter Callahan.

Pic, starring Joseph Fiennes and Justin Kirk, follows a man with a tragic past who sets out to swim the length of the Hudson River. Elizabeth Reaser, Mary Tyler Moore and Michelle Trachtenberg also star in the film produced by Mary Jane Skalski and Joshua Zeman.

Pic will unspool next year via the distrib’s VOD platform IFC Festival Direct, which is in 30 million homes, and will have a limited theatrical run in Hudson Valley theatrical markets this fall.

Do you ever worry about being always thought of as Alice Cullen when you go off to make your other film projects? What kind of other projects are you hoping to do?

Maybe Kristen and Rob will kind of have a little bit more of a shadow behind them that always links them to Twilight, but Alice is a vampire, yes, but she has this human heart. She’s really lovable and really likable, sort of like the best friend, and so I think that might help me in the other films. I think the fans already love me and love Alice. I think it’s a positive. I don’t think I’m going to be pigeonholed. If I always played the hot, stupid chick, then I might be pigeonholed as that. I get to kind of choose my films, which hopefully I will choose wisely and build off of that versus pissing the fans off. I want to do an action film just because there’s already a bit of action in Twilight, and when I did it I absolutely took to it and loved it.

Grizzly Bear (”Slow Life”): The beloved Brooklyn indie-rock band known for mixing folk with electronic instruments released one of this year’s most acclaimed albums in May, Veckatimest. Their mix of acoustic guitars, chamber pop, electronic bloops and gorgeous melodies have earned them major blog props.

According to Joy Scaglione, a writer at The Examiner:

Berg described Dune as “muscular and adventurous, more violent and possibly even a little bit more fun.” He’s also looking into creating a possible franchise for the film.

No casting announcements have been made this early into development, but rumors about Twilight star Robert Pattinson taking the lead role have been floating around the internet since spring. Berg would only say that he was looking at “guys in their late teens.”

I think Rob has definately shown that he has potential to make a series successful. We’ll just have to wait and see if this rumor becomes fact.

What has fame taught Rob?

“I can’t remember what my normal life is like,” he admitted in one of his quieter moments.

“Because of internet stuff and Twitter, there will be a crowd if you are in a place for more than half an hour.

“I’ve learned never to stay in the same place for more than 20 minutes.”

We have it on good authority that the story will be narrated by a very recognizable and iconic vampire. (We’re guessing it won’t be Lestat.) Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria

Los Angeles – July 28, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

“I’m asked to growl a lot, and I don’t really enjoy doing that. I just tell people to wait for the movie to see me growl.”

I’m not sure why, but it would have never occurred to me to ask him to growl. I’d think he’d have more people growling AT him.
