Stephenie Meyer discusses how powerful Robert Pattinson’s performance was in the Birth Scene:

“He was really able to touch the human emotions of that scene. Rob really nailed it,” author Stephenie Meyer admits in this behind the scenes clip available on the DVD, which hits stores Feb. 11. “It was really powerful. I teared up, several people near me did. It was just a lump in your throat—that moment of thinking you’ve lost everything and not being able to accept it. It was really emotional.”

Seven weeks of filming for Austenland officially wrapped August 26. The movie, directed by Jerusha Hess, is an adaptation of the brilliantly romantic and comedic book by author Shannon Hale, and is the first project to come from Fickle Fish Films, a production company geared toward “literature related film and media”, created by Stephenie Meyer and Meghan Hibbett.

You will love, and maybe even relate to, this story of a New York woman obsessed with Jane Austen’s incomparable character, Mr. Darcy. She takes the trip of a lifetime traveling to a, sort of, Jane Austen theme park in England where guests are immersed in the world of Pride & Prejudice. Living it out dressing in Regency clothing, speaking …uhh…Regency-speak, and interacting with actors who play the part of Austen’s characters so well, that the line between Austenland and reality is sometimes a little blurred.

As if the trifecta-of-pure-awesomeness –  Shannon Hale, Jerusha Hess, and Stephenie Meyer – weren’t enough of a reason to be impatient for the finished product, the movie boasts a talented cast that includes Keri Russell, Jennifer Coolidge, Bret McKenzie, JJ Feild, and Jane Seymore. –yes, you read that correctly, Jane! Seymore! Wendy Mitchell of ScreenDaily had a chance to visit the set of Austenland in the midst of filming and gives us a little preview of what she saw that day:

“I witnessed Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords grinding up on Keri Russell, all the while wearing regency finery. Oh, and did I mention a Nelly song was playing? What more do you want from a film, people?

“The whole cast and crew was in hysterics as McKenzie (not a shy one!) was doing some impromptu choreography for this fantasy dance sequence, leading the gyrations from James Callis, Ricky Whittle, Rupert Vansittart, and JJ Feild (who producer Stephenie Meyer — yes, she of Twilight fame — touted as the next Hugh Grant or Colin Firth).”

In addition to the Stephenie Meyer fansite junket interview and audio we shared on Friday from Twilight Series Theories, Twifans.com has also posted info from the junket, where they asked Stephenie about the status of  The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide.

SM: Oh no, no, it’s continuing. It just…it keeps evolving. So then we have to catch up… I don’t know. I hope that when it comes out, it’s amazing. Because it seems like a lot of effort has been put into it at this point. And it is kind of evolving, and “let’s do this, no let’s do this”. It’s going to have a lot of great information, and it’s really cool. I think my favorites are the genealogy charts for the Quileutes. They are beautiful….they’re lovely.

… Well, there’s a lot of people involved and then collating all this information and putting it all together. It’s a lot of…..it’s interesting, because there have been some guides put out that have SO much misinformation, they are dead wrong; I think you can figure out from the books, they’re dead wrong! So it’s my mission that this has everything correct. Which would be great. Hopefully, not forever…..to go on it, we’ll see. You know….movies interrupt things a lot. Movies are a time-sucker!

Twilight Series Theories has posted a new transcript and audio from the fansite junket with Stephenie Meyer.

This week, they say “Stephenie Meyer answers questions about the Volvo used in the movies, what Edward is thinking when he stops making out with Bella in the proposal scene, what it’s like to have teenagers and religion is always brought up in reference to SM and her books…” I particularly love this question and answer:

LT:  If you were forced to write a sequel or some novella, which—what character or characters would you do?

SM: If I were to go ahead with sequels, and I think that I’ve already stated this in some book thing, I would tell it from two narrators again, although I think I’d switch back and forth and it would be Nessie and Leah.  And you know it’s funny because a lot of people are like—I’ve read a lot of theories about why I felt compelled to have Bella have a baby and there’s only one reason and it’s not because—there isn’t a lot of really negative stuff—it’s not because you know Bella needed to have a baby or anything, it’s because I knew—it was really clear because I’d already done “Forever Dawn”—once Bella becomes a vampire she loses her relatability.  It’s subtle, but you no longer could do anything she could do and it really, as a narrator, she—I wanted to continue, I wanted to show where she went with it—but as a narrator she loses a lot of her appeal because she’s a vampire now and it’s really interesting to see how she does things but emotionally I felt like the tie was not as strong.  I wanted my narrator for the next story.  When I was writing this I was never gonna stop and I may go back to it, but like I said there’s the burnout factor that you don’t take into account and working on the movies, it’s a lot of vampires.  But Nessie was created because she was the logical voice, you have someone who’s half-human, half-vampire who doesn’t fit in anywhere and is an outsider in some ways, but then loved and cherished by her family.  But all the intricacies—she had so many problems, so many challenges so she was so attractive to me as a narrator.  And then Leah, of course, obviously is left open, right?  I can’t—I couldn’t solve all the problems in this because I didn’t want to end it.  I mean clearly the Volturi, that wasn’t the end, end.  I needed to get to an ending spot for now, but you know I…I just couldn’t see them, the Volturi—they’re smart, they’re patient, they’ve been doing this forever—they’re not going to get into this situation and not say, “Oh we need to reevaluate.”  It didn’t make sense for me—them as characters to just go ahead with it, for me.  But like, Nessie’s supposed to tell the story next and Leah has a story to tell too and so that’s where it would go.

Digital Spy: Paul Wesley has claimed that it would be “ignorant” to say that The Vampire Diarieswas not helped by the buzz surrounding The Twilight Saga.

Both Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) and Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert) agreed that Stephenie Meyer’s tales’ success had paved the way for more vampire stories, even though The Vampire Diaries began as a novel series in 1991.

Andrew Niccol is a name you might want to tuck away in your memory for future reference. He’s known for writing huge movie hits like The Truman Show and Gattaca (which he also directed). He’s also writing (with Stephenie Meyer’s help) and directing the movie The Host that will bring her best-selling Scifi/Romance to life on the big screen in 2011.

He is the perfect fit for The Host! But he’s also got another exciting project underway that is circulating quite a bit of talk. I’m.mortal has movie and entertainment blogs buzzing with casting rumors and announcements almost in the same way we do with The Twilight Saga. (but we’re a little more obsessive )

Big names like Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake and Cillian Murphy who played the Scarecrow in Batman Begins are coming up as being attached to or finalizing negotiations for I’m.mortal, which Andrew Niccol also wrote and is directing.

Synopsis via IMDb.com: In the not-too-distant future the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man who comes into a fortune of time, though too late to help his mother from dying. He ends up on the run from a corrupt police force known as ‘time keepers’.

I’m.mortal, like The Host, is slated for release in 2011, however, it is likely that I’m.mortal will make it to theaters earlier than The Host considering the hectic schedule Stephenie Meyer will continue to be under while producing Breaking Dawn. But seeing the latest project from Andrew Niccol beforehand will give us a great chance to get even more of a feel for his unique style!

Hey everybody! I hope you all had a great summer. I’m sorry I don’t update more, but it’s crazy how busy you can be without really having anything to update about. I decided to do an end of the summer recap like I did last year—just the books and music and movies I enjoyed most. I love to share good stuff.

USA Today is reporting that The Twilight Saga has beat the Harry Potter series on the Best-Selling list. 

Stephenie Meyer’s four-book Twilight series has sunk its fangs into USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list — with no signs of letting go. Meyer’s domination of the list for the past 12 months has smashed records that until now had belonged to J.K. Rowling.

Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in the teen-vampire romance series, entered the list at No. 1 on Aug. 2, 2008. Its sales and those of Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse, the first three books, have remained staggering.

This week, Meyer’s novels are Nos. 4, 5, 6 and 7 on USA TODAY’s list.

Rowling, overall, has sold more books than Meyer — her seven-book series about boy wizard Harry Potter has 143 million copies in print in the USA, while Meyer has sold 40 million copies of her four books. But Rowling can’t match Meyer’s control of the list.

Yep, you read that right. Stephenie Meyer will have her very own bio-comic in the near future. You can expect to see it hit the shelves sometime in November.

According to Reelz Channel:

The creative force behind The Twilight Saga, Meyer has been selected for membership into a very exclusive club. Joining the ranks of Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Princess Diana, she will be immortalized in the comic book series Female Force.

The bio comic will examine Meyer’s rise to popularity with the Twilight Saga novels, the movie franchise, and her plans for the future. We have it on good authority that the story will be narrated by a very recognizable and iconic vampire. (We’re guessing it won’t be Lestat.) An alternate 40-page collector’s edition will also include a history of Forks, Washington.

MTV’s Hollywood Crush Blog has the scoop on the Breaking Dawn Special Edition that will be available August 4th. 

The book includes a replica of the handwritten lyrics for Blue October’s “My Never” — a song that screams “Twilight” — and a “Breaking Dawn” Concert Series DVD…. the special edition book also comes with a full-color Edward and Bella poster.

This is such a great story.  It amazes me where Twilight fans pop up. The band Meese apparently are big Twilight Saga fans.  They had the opportunity to meet Stephenie Meyer at their concert the other night.  Nathan blogged about the experience-

Hi guys, Nathan here. Now for something that you probably didn’t know about Ben and me. We’re into Twilight. Like IN TO it. It started when we were visiting our record label almost a year ago and they had a bunch of copies of the book laying around and I needed something to read on the airplane on the way back to Denver. Anyways – it was one of those obsessed-at-first-page type scenarios where I didn’t put the book down for two days and two nights until it was completely absorbed by my eyes and my brain. If you’d of told me earlier in my life that I’d be reading vampire love story saga I’d call you crazy, but sometimes life throws you curveballs…

So I finished ‘Eclipse’ (the third book) about a week ago before a show with Copeland in Cali. I bought ‘Breaking Dawn’ (the last one) at the airport in San Francisco before I flew home to Denver to play a show. Yadda yadda we’re playing our first show with The Fray in Phoenix two nights ago and I had been reading the in the dressing room and got to page 120 or something like that when all of a sudden some says in passing really nonchalant “Yeah, the Twilight author, Stephenie Meyer is gonna be here tonight”. Then I had this split second indecision of “Should I try to play it cool and act like I meet super famous genius writers all the time? OR should I flip out and tell her what a big fan I am and get my picture taken with her?”. I think it’s pretty obvious which one I picked. Stephenie was AWESOME. We got to hang out and chatted for a while! If it wasn’t for the fact that we had to go on stage to play, I probably would’ve tried to talk to her all night.

I personally had never heard of Meese before this story popped up in my google alerts but I’ve spent some time over at their site this evening and I’m really impressed.  I’m definitely going to be making a trip to I-tunes shortly.  Check out their latest video-

EW.com is reporting that a Twilight Graphic Novel is in the works-

For those of you who can’t get enough Edward and Bella, EW can announce — exclusively — that Yen Press will be publishing Twilight in graphic-novel form. Though Korean artist Young Kim is creating the art, Meyer herself is deeply immersed in the project, reviewing every panel.

Take a close look at the biology-class sketch we’ve obtained (that’s an empty dialogue bubble between their heads, if you’re wondering). What’s interesting to me is that it doesn’t look simply like an artist’s rendering of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson. In fact, the characters seem to be an amalgam of Meyer’s literary imagination and the actors’ actual looks. The description of Edward from biology class: “His dazzling face was friendly; open, a slight smile on his flawless lips. But his eyes were cautious.” And Bella: “I was ivory-skinned …. I had always been slender, but soft somehow, obviously not an athlete…” To me, this graphic-novel Bella seems much closer to me to Meyer’s book than to Stewart’s sultry portrayal. The Edward shown is closer to Pattinson, but not a real duplicate; there’s something very winning in the sketch that I don’t see in Pattinson’s all-too-perfect tousled bronze locks and piercing eyes.
