Hey everyone!

I have a really fun announcement for you all, and I hope you will be as excited as I am.  I have spent the last several weeks lining up a bunch of contests and giveaways that we will be holding here on our blog.  These giveaways will range from Twilight related, to non-Twilight related but just freaking awesome.  I am seriously giddy from the things we have lined up; I honestly am in awe of the talent out there in the world.

The admins all put our heads together and thought of a TON of great idea’s for things we could do on our day, but in the end we had to whittle it down… we chose 2 of our idea’s. We have some great prizes planned, including copies of The Host and some other goodies I am working on

Our first contest will be to write a journal entry from the perspective of ANY character in the book, except for Melanie or Wanderer.

Here are the rules:
1. Journal entries must be no longer than 300 words in length.
2. Journal entries must mention something specific that happens or is mentioned in the book.
3. Journal entries can be written from the perspective of ANY character in The Host, except Melanie and Wanderer. It can be a big character like Ian to someone barely mentioned at all.
4. BE CREATIVE!

Our second contest is a fun one, we are going to have a sculpture making contest using Twinkies and Cheetos! Now, on first thought you may think to yourself WHAT can I make from Twinkies and Cheetos? And my response to that is, I don’t know, use your imagination and dazzle us!

Here are the rules for the Twinkie and Cheetos Sculpture Contest:

1. The main ingredients in your snack food work of art must be Twinkies and Cheetos. You may use popsicle sticks and/or toothpicks to hold it together if you need to… you can mush it up with water and make a paste… but that is it. Twinkies, cheetos, toothpicks, and popsicle sticks… and water are it!
2. You can carve, mush, squish, stack, or anything else you need to do to shape your sculpture, so long as you stick to the allowed ingredients. Is that even the right word for this? Ingredients?

Please email photographs of your completed masterpiece to mediarep@twilightmoms.com with Twinkie and Cheeto Sculpture as the subject line, be sure to include your contact information in the email.

All entries for BOTH contests must be received no later than Wednesday, June 17th so that our admin team can look over the entries and choose the winners. We will announce the winners on the 24th.

Our Current Featured Music Artist, The Mitch Hansen Band, teases us with a little tidbit on a new song they’ve been working on: 

 I’m just really excited about the most recent song I’ve started putting together.  It sounds really cool!  Well, at least it does in my head, because I haven’t laid down any tracks for it yet.  It’s going to be called “Whisper.”  I’ll let you try to guess what its about, but I’m not going to tell if you’re right.  Yeah, I’m evil like that, but I’m hoping the song’s eventual coolness will more than make up for my evil ways.

Mitch’s Twilight inspired music has garnered legions of fans the world over. Fans know him for his unique sound and uncanny insight into the Twilight Saga which has enabled him to pour into his music, all the same deep emotions readers feel while reading the books. This unsuspecting husband and father in Atlanta, GA has become an artistic icon within the Twilight fan base… and here on TwilightMOMS.com, he has the prestigious distinction of having been the very first ever TwilightDAD, joining TwilightMOMS when it was just a super small group of maybe 20 members on Myspace.

 And, finally, we’ve been trying to post a blog with this picture all morning.  It was sent to us by our very own fabulous TwilightMOM illumin8 (aka Kara).  Kara took it at the Borders book store where the TwilightLive Podcast is being held from yesterday while they were getting set up!

So while there’s this part of me feeling like crying because you all are just too cool, there’s this other part of me that really feels like crying because I’m thinking ‘what did I get myself into?’ Getting from the airport to my hotel in NEW YORK CITY, was just so-SO- SOOO, just wow! I’m here, I’m really in New York. Did I mention I’ve never been to NYC before? There’s this ‘panel’ thing tomorrow. When they asked me for someone from TwilightMOMS to help host it, I thought- heck yeah! That will be so cool! There are all these awesome East Coast moms, one of them will be so great on it. I wanted to have Lisa 314 do it.    Hmm, we have the same name… maybe nobody will notice if she does the panel in my place tomorrow, errr, today, I mean… It’s like after 3 am here  but I’m wide awake cuz this city really doesn’t ever sleep and I can’t sleep thinking about tomorrow. There’s gonna be trivia.  Trivia!  AmyO and Whiteclover, I need you both! Can we put one of those ear thing-a-ma-jobs in my ear and you guys could listen to the questions and whisper the answers to me whenever I get asked anything because I’m gonna be focusing hard not to say ‘like’ all the time, so I need help! My hubby was teasing me before I left about the news stories that came out today, err, yesterday, where they quoted me and I guess I said ‘like’ a lot and he says that’s, like,  how I, like, talk in, like, real life.  Hey- I got a good idea. Let’s have another TwilightMOM contest!  Everybody make a guess about how many times I say ‘like’ tomorrow and whoever comes closest without going over wins!

I think the trivia questions are gonna be really tough. Kallie and Kassie are, like, really, really smart. Just the name of their website sounds smart. Twilight Series Theories.  Don’t you think that just oozes smarts? It even rhymes.  I just spell checked rhymes to make sure I got it right.  Have you ever listened to their podcasts? Both Kallie and Kassie have these really cool Texas accents, too.  They sound good and they’re really smart.

So I noticed tons of electronics stores everywhere.  I think I’ll go out early tomorrow and find one of those ear things. If one of you could track down AmyO and Whiteclover for me and get one of both of them hooked into my ear by noon I might draw your name out of the hat even if you didn’t enter the drawing.

Really, I’m excited to be here and happy to meet all the East Coast TwilightMOMS.  There’s really just this one little teensy thing I just found out about that’s gotten me a little bit nervous (besides the trivia, that really does make me a little nervous, I wasn’t just joking about the ear thing- I would like a lifeline like they give you on that game show…).  So this thing that’s making me a tiny bit anxious for real is that, well, you know Larry Carroll?  MTV?  Twilight Tuesdays?  Yep, MTV is covering the panel.  They are going to be there, reporting about it and interviewing us and I think some of the MTV reporters are even going to be on the panel with us now.

Really, I just wanted to say ‘hi’ from the Big Apple and THANK YOU for sending me here.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.  I’ll try my best to blog and twitter and share.  Listen to the live podcast for the drawing.  I brought some of the things some of you donated for the gift basket with me and everything is really cool and beautiful.  The winner will be very happy!
