A 24 hour Blackout Protest by Wikipedia, WordPress, TwitPic, Reddit, and others will begin at midnight
in opposition to the proposed Stop Online Piracy Act making it’s way through US Congress. TwilightMOMS.com will join in the SOPA Blackout Protest January 18th.

While we are a mere speck compared to web giants like Wikipedia, we still hope to bring awareness on this issue to our audience and encourage everyone to learn more about SOPA and PIPA.

This bill would dramatically change the Internet and criminalize virtually any person posting pictures, links, music clips, video clips, etc. on social networking sites like Facebook, or fansites like TwilightMOMS, average blogs, video uploading sites like YouTube, news sharing sites like Reddit, picture sharing sites like TwitPic, even hobbyist sites such as Pinterest. The list is endless.

The Internet is the most essential communication and information sharing tool for Americans, and for people everywhere. Please research SOPA  / PIPA and speak out!

According to an interview Taylor did with Austin’s Channel 42 KEYE he’s getting a little tired of people asking him to growl.

“I’m asked to growl a lot, and I don’t really enjoy doing that. I just tell people to wait for the movie to see me growl.”

I’m not sure why, but it would have never occurred to me to ask him to growl. I’d think he’d have more people growling AT him.

Our 25,000th registered member was activated today! And we’re still counting! 

And how many of you thought you were the only one? I know I did! That’s how TwilightMOMS began. I set out on a personal mission to find somebody… anybody my age who had been affected by Stephenie Meyer’s writing in the same crazy way I was, expecting only to find a handful of women, if that. Now look at us! I’m so glad we have us!

We haven’t updated this spot for quite some time. We thought we’d get right on it.

We have been growing strong both on the main website and in the forums. We love your visits, comments, and information. Reading your stories, your feelings, and what Twilight means to you. It has made our days so much better. We are growing strong.

Forums

The forums have  struggled as of late with so many visits. It’s a bitter-sweet adventure. The bitter – we struggle with uptime because of so many hits; the sweet – we love the friendships, information, and can’t get enough of it! So, to resolve this and make preparations for up and coming events (New Moon and more…), we wish to make your experience more reliable. We’ve finished our first phase (of what may be endless phases) by moving the hosting and our websites, both our main website and news blog, to new servers.

We have seen a huge improvement!

Our next phase is to undertake moving the forums. This is a more involved undertaking and want to make absolutely sure we have everything covered. So it will take a little bit longer than just a couple weeks. The greatest improvement you’ll notice is stability.

Update: this post was written last year in August 2008 and I wanted to inform you that the information here is old and relevant to events at that time. The comments here range from old to new; and since we love them, we want to keep them active and available. But because the status information is old, we want you to know that we maintain a forum (The Cullens Garage) of our server status and Q&A at the TwilightMomsForums.com site. Yesterday at least one of the Twilight communities mounted an attack on some of the Twilight fansites.  They held a “contest” of sorts to see who could post as many of their banners on a site and take a screen shot of their banner before it got deleted.  They posted a few posts on our site before we decided to disable the forum for the night.  The TwilightMOMS forums were not hacked and are still in tact but due to lack of staffing available this weekend to deal with the issue we have decided to keep the forum disabled for the weekend.

Our heart goes out to the Lexicon and we are truly saddened that their site was hacked last night.  The Lexicon held a wealth of information for the Twilight Fandom which is currently unavailable to all. 

 ETA: It appears it was one really upset person who hacked into the Lexicon.  I’m truly sorry for the time and energy that it will take the Lex to restore the damage that was done.  The Lexicon provided so much valuable information for the Twilight community. I personally agree that, no matter whether you loved or hated Breaking Dawn, or agreed or diagreed with the Lexicon stance on what is allowed on their personal site, hacking in and destroying someone’s website is unjustifiable and completely wrong.

ETA:  My original post said it was a teenager who hacked into the Lex but in reality I don’t have a clue how old the person was.  Stephenie Meyer has many loyal fans of all ages!!!  Teenagers and adults alike adore her and the world she has created.

The Movie Fanatic named the TwilightMOMS as one of the top 3 Twilight websites.With more than 3800 registered users and an average daily post of 1,259, the forum at Twilight Moms is truly a wonderful Twilight community. Someone from tMF joined a number of these Twilight boards, and we have observed that some of them have issues with management and organization, but not this forum. With such diverse topics and with so many members posting almost at the same time, it takes more than willpower and patience to prevail, but we salute the Admins at Twilight Moms for operating a true Twilight community, and they even outscooped some of the other Twilight sites! I am so proud to announce our official affiliation with TwilightTEENS! Our teen visitors have been so wonderful and respectful! We appreciate them and their enthusiasm for all things Twilight.  And to just remain lurking on TwilightMOMS out of respect for our desire to have a place of our own has shown just how mature and respectable they are.  What better way to THANK YOU than to affiliate with the TwilightTEENS. They are a message board created and run by teens for fans age 13 to 25. I have been wanting to provide a place just for our 25 and younger lurkers that provided the same warm and uplifting atmosphere of friendship and Twilight fandom. However, with all that we moms and “older” fans have on our plate already, it seemed unrealistic to manage a whole other forum of enthusiastic fans with twice the energy I have! The Administration from TwilightTeens has made this a reality and I am SO grateful to Sara and all the staff for making it possible.
